Swindon Consultant on Trial for Wife's Death

Christopher Tribus, 43 years old, is accused of manslaughter, coercive control, and two counts of rape linked to the death of Terran Baird. She was 34 when she hanged herself at home in November 2017. Earlier testimony revealed Tribus allegedly threatened to hurt her family if she tried to leave him. He also reportedly used tracking software to monitor her movements, even knowing where she parked her car during meetings. Baird confided in helpers that turning off the trackers led to beatings. Professionals who met with Baird described her deep fear and isolation. A psychiatric nurse noticed a red mark on her neck and heard how Tribus got rough during an unwanted sexual encounter, grabbing her throat and using a rope. She had overdosed months earlier and hid hospital visits from him, saying she had no support network. In another incident at a hotel, Baird tried to evade his tracking by using cash and changing her phone, but he still showed up.
