A 19-year-old man from Edmonton wanted in connection with murders in Vaughan and Toronto has been arrested in Calgary. Isaiah Thomas Badger was taken into custody on Thursday by the Calgary Police Fugitive Team, following tips from the public and media. York Regional Police say he faces charges of first-degree murder and arson related to a fatal shooting on January 26, 2000. 26. Earlier this month, the other suspect in the Vaughan case, a 19-year-old from Mississauga, was arrested in Northern Ontario. Police responded around 1pm to a commercial plaza near Winches Road and Roundtree Dairy Road, with a found 65-year-old Sergio Lopez. Shot multiple times, he died in hospital and investigators believe it was a targeted hit. Authorities are grateful for the quick work that led to both arrests, highlighting how public tips make a big difference in these cases.

1:02The Vaughan incident also involved a black SUV that was later found burning nearby, tying into the arson charge. Meanwhile, Badger faces a separate Canada-wide warrant from Toronto Police for another first-degree murder. On February 7, 2026, around 3.26pm, 37-year-old Shandan Kumar Raja Nanda Kumar was shot in a parking lot at Woodbine Shopping Center. That killing also appears targeted.
