SURVIVING TO THRIVING | HEATHER MARKHAM

About this episode

On this episode of Free Thinking, Montel speaks with author Heather Markham. Heather received a life-changing diagnosis of progressive muscular dystrophy at age 34, and would eventually need a wheelchair. She didn’t let that define her and leaned in hard to an adventurous life despite her diagnosis. She is an engineer, assistive technology professional, an educator, an author, a para-surfer and an award winning photographer. She recently released her inspiring memoir, Rough Waters, which chronicles her slow decline in mobility and her determination to live an extraordinary life. The challenges she shares are both specific to her circumstances, yet relatable to us all.
