Suburban Paradise | Madness, Hell, and the Eternal Fire

The Heart

About this episode

One year ago in June 2025 wearing combat boots in bed I watch Man on the Moon. A mad genius performs as a mad genius. Mozart dies writing death music in the director's cut of Amadeus. Two films by one director doing studies of artistic madness. A mad genius of radio tells me about the Tibetan Book of the Dead and I reflect on heaven and hell, after returning from a festival in Ireland hosted by another mad genius.

For all of you so inclined (who, like me, can't help it but waste a lot of effort trying to):

LET THIS BE THE WEEK OF MADNESS. (And please g-o-d: let genius be the result.)

Listen to Scott Carrier talking to people in Beirut (May 2026).

Thank you g-o-d for the genius and the madness of Diarmuid MacIntyre and the welcoming hearts of Kilfinane.
