
Studies on Transgender Individuals Find Elevated Suicide Rate—Especially After Surgery

A new study out of Canada finds that suicide rates among transgender individuals are significantly higher than in the general population.
By itself, this isn’t exactly news, but it does add to a growing body of research that shows that people who actually go through with “gender-affirming surgeries” have higher rates of suicide and poorer mental health outcomes than those who don’t.
