Strong Leaves, Coach Shannon Departs: Gamecocks Rebuild

Strong stepped up during the year, averaging 10 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He started 18 games after beginning on the bench, showing real progress in the lineup. Just after their SEC tournament lost to Oklahoma on March 11, Strong expressed strong loyalty to the program and coach Lamont Paris. Now, his decision marks another shift as the team reshapes for next year. This isn't the only change, assistant coach Eddie Shannon has already parted ways with the staff. That leaves the roster and flux amid the rebuild efforts. Eight other players still have eligibility to decide on before the portal deadline, so more moves could come soon as South Carolina aims to turn.
