Stop the February Fade: How Systems and Simplicity Save Your Goals

About this episode

Summary:

This episode addresses why real estate agents often abandon their New Year's resolutions by February. The host explains that while motivation starts the process, it is emotional and fleeting; only robust systems and manageable routines finish the job. Agents are encouraged to stop overcomplicating their plans with too many goals and instead focus on one or two simple, repeatable actions that can be maintained even on difficult days. By prioritizing consistency over intensity, agents can avoid burnout and ensure long-term business growth.

Welcome to the Real Estate Survival Guide, the show that teaches realtors how to create a thriving real estate business. What is up guys, welcome back to the Real Estate Survival Guide. Hope you guys are doing well, welcome to our first Wednesday episode in a long time. If you've been here, if you're one of the OGs as they call it, we used to go Monday, Wednesday, Friday, then we went Friday only because I was a crazy person to do three episodes a week and now we're switching it up a little bit to go on Wednesdays. And so the goal of this is pretty simple. I want the Wednesday podcast episode to bridge the gap between the now Monday and Friday YouTube channel video. So the goal of this is to basically bridge that Monday and Friday video. The Monday kind of talking about an idea, this bridging that gap to connect it to Friday

with real time examples. So that's not going to happen every week, of course, but when we kind of do themes and stuff, that will happen. And if you were with us last week, we talked about how you could have success with a simple plan to grow your real estate business. But I also talked about how this will not happen if you don't put in the work, right? Anyway, it can be full of motivation, excitement and big plans, but I know we're still early in January, but some of you are a week almost into January and you're like, oh, I feel the same as I did in 2025. Why? Well, because you haven't changed anything. And if you don't change anything now, today, your dream will die. And February will be when it disappears, right? And most realtors fail their goal by February, and I don't want you to be that person. I want to make sure that with the three weeks we have until February, every single year,

we are consistent and working towards our goal to have success in a real estate business. You know, I see this all the time. Realtors start up the new year, fire it up. It's actually interesting. I should have said this last week, but so many realtors, they like to take Thanksgiving to Christmas off. And then they wonder why, oh, it's January, it's February and I don't feel like I'm having success. Yes. Because you cannot take time off. I'm not saying don't be with your family or friends for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. We certainly did and spent a lot of time doing that and it was great, but you cannot put down your business for six weeks. And so that's what happens. If you go the next few weeks, doing the same thing, nothing's going to change, right? We all know the definition of insanity, right? You did it in November and December and now you're doing it again here in January, right? You started January, maybe fired up posting more, talking about your goals and then your a couple of weeks in, maybe a week in now, you get busy, schedule gets busy, family needs attention and your motivation fades.

And so suddenly these goals that you all had a week ago are going to be gone and you will fail by February if you don't grab on to something and hang on tight for the long ride of 2026. I said this on the podcast episode on Friday, right? Motivation is emotional, feels great when everything is new, but you can't just be motivated by feelings or you won't do the work, right? So motivation can start things like we talked about, but systems like we talked about on Friday finishes them. So if your goal requires you to feel motivated every day, that goal is not big enough. And so here's what actually causes realtors to fail by February. Too many goals, no clear priorities, no structure, no margin for life. Most realtors don't fail because they aim too high. They fail because they try to change everything at once. They decide they're going to double their income, post every day, work out five days a week, fix their diet, overhaul their schedule and become a completely different person all in a few days. That approach does not create growth.

It creates burnout. So like we discussed on Friday, goals need to be simple, repeatable. They need to fit into your actual life. So if you want this year to be different, here's the shift I want you to make. Stop asking yourself, what do I want to accomplish this year? And instead ask yourself, what can I realistically repeat even on my worst days? You know, I have realtors under me. I have, you know, 50 agents or whatever it is under me. And I have discussions with them, you know, sometimes to work full time jobs, right? And sometimes the best thing they could do is get fired like I did, but financially that doesn't work for a lot of people and I get that. But I say to them, what is one thing? One thing one thing you can do every day in your business. And that is a much more manageable strategy, right? Consistency beats intensity every single time. So if you're working a full time job and you can only do real estate one or two hours a day, let's just make sure those one or two hours are absolutely goal crushing hours

in your business, right? And this directly talks to what we talked about on Monday on YouTube, where I shared how realtors should actually be planning their goals instead of over complicating them. And later this week, you see how we're connecting it guys? Later this week on the YouTube video, we will break down the biggest goal setting mistakes realtors making how to avoid them all together before it's too late. All of the content this week is designed to work together for you to crush your goals or weaken to the new year and let's get it all together, okay? If you want to win this year, do not rely on motivation. What do you need? You need systems. You need margin. You need to focus on where you can repeatedly win consistently, right? And I also need to say, you need to give yourself grace. So many of you, I've seen it, right? I saw it at the end of December, I saw it in November, I saw it even a couple of days.

I had someone reach out to me on New Year's Day that they were frustrated. How like the first day of the year, right? And so you need to, yes, set big goals, but show yourself grace as well. And again, you might need a coach, someone to really help and push and encourage you, okay? I don't want you to fail and not meet your goals. I don't want you to give up on your goals by February 1st, right? In three weeks, I want you to have success, but you need to do it consistently, right? And you need to not over complicate it, right? Three things like we talked about last week. Let's stop having 500 different things that we're doing. Let's stop trying to do everything. You know, I joke with people and we'll close it out with this. I joke with people, they'll be like, oh, well, you're just posting on Facebook and this and that and whatever. And I'm like, yeah, I'm a simple guy is what I tell them. I say, I have a small brain and I do the simple things.

I do the simple things. And so I want you guys to think about doing the simple stuff and having a strategic system to get those things that stuff done. So appreciate you guys. Don't get frustrated. Don't burn out. But set some goals, have some systems to accomplish those goals. And if we do that, we will have more success in 2026. We're only a weekend. So whether it's been a great week or a terrible week or somewhere in the middle, you have 350, whatever it is, 55, 56, 59, whatever days to go. So let's make the most out of that, okay? If you do that, if you worked diligently and put in the effort and energy, you won't be like everyone else who fails their goals by February. So I appreciate you guys. Thanks for listening. See you guys Friday on the YouTube channel and then of course Monday again on the YouTube channel and then back here next Wednesday on the podcast. I'm always here for you guys, here rooting for you and cheering you on. If I can be doing anything to help your business, please reach out any time and I'll talk

to you guys very soon. Thanks for listening to the Real Estate Survival Guide. If you enjoyed this episode, we would appreciate it if you'd leave us a review on iTunes. It helps others discover the show. Thank you so much and we will see you on the next episode.
