7News Just In

About this episode

A police pursuit through the Adelaide Hills ended with two suspects driving an allegedly stolen Toyota Camry into a dam. The incident began when the vehicle was taken from Adelaide's north during a delivery, leading to a 40-minute chase that concluded at a dead end where the driver submerged the car in murky water and initially refused to exit. Both the driver and his 19-year-old passenger were arrested and charged with multiple offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, with both refused police bail.

A suspected stolen car has ended up in a dam at the end of a wild police pursuit through the Adelaide Hills. Our reporter, Mitch Saryomsky, has the story. Well, the suspects are incredibly lucky this didn't end in tragedy after driving a stolen car straight into this dam, sobbing apologetic, but the damage was already done. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. After submerging the camera in the murky water, the driver refused to get out holding police at bay. His 19-year-old passenger fled the scene on foot, but was tracked down shortly after. Crushing car into the dam. We were all equal that. We were equal. And it all began when they allegedly stole the Toyota and Adelaide's north. A man was making a delivery on a suburban street when they jumped into the car and took

off. It was chased 40 minutes away to the Adelaide Hills where they hit a dead end. Such a waste. Well, I'm sure they arrested, they'd get charged for like, I don't know, just reckless driving. Specialist police divers attended the scene this morning. The car was pulled out of the water. The pair has been charged with a string of offenses, including a legal use of a motor vehicle. Both.
