Stockyards Project Shifts to Mixed-Use Building

On a 0.3 acre lot at the northeast corner of West Exchange and Clinton avenues, developers now want a two-story mixed-use building, instead of the original four-story boutique plan. The news setup could mix food and drinks with hospitality spots, including a covered patio on one side and a second floor balcony. The Beck Group is handling the design, though they haven't commented yet. Back in July 2023, the City's Urban Design Commission nixed the taller four-story version. Then a three-story redo in September 2024 just sat without action, leading to the Lot's Sale in December 2025. This latest permit went to the historic and cultural landmarks commission for review. Their earliest shot at it is the 1pm meeting on May 13th at City Hall. Word is, these changes might finally fit the neighborhood's historic feel.
