Steelers Use Rare Tender on Rodgers

Veteran quarterback, it's a one-year deal worth just over $15 million, a 10% bump from his last paycheck. ESPN's Adam Schaefter broke the news first. Rodgers can ink that deal anytime, negotiate something fresh with the Steelers, or shop around with other teams until July 22nd or the start. Up Pittsburgh's training camp, whichever hits first. This tender is super rare in the NFL, only popping up a couple times lately, like when Baltimore used it on Justin Houston in 2022, and Kansas City did the same for Melvin Ingram. Houston stay put, but Ingram bounced to Miami, handing the chiefs a six-round compensatory pick. If Rodgers signs elsewhere for around $15 million, the Steelers could match the offer or pocket a fourth-round compick in the formula.
