On April 28th, Steelers just locked in wide receiver Brandon Johnson on a one-year deal, and to make room, they cut wide-out John Rees plumbly. Johnson's no stranger to the black and gold. He rode their practice squad the past two seasons and got called up several times to contribute. This guy entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos after the 2022 NFL draft, then bounced between their practice. Squad and active roster, plus a stint on Tampa Bay Squad. Over 23 games with three starts, he's hauled in 26 catches for 335 yards and five touchdowns, showing he can. Produce when it counts. Last season in 2023, he stepped up big in 13 games with 19 receptions for 284 yards and four. Scores, solid debt for Pittsburgh, as they build that receiver core heading into training camp.
