Steelers' Rodgers Dilemma: Plan for Future or Hold On

Top quarterbacks like Highler Murray, Tuatago Viloa, Geno Smith and Malik Willis have all signed with other teams, leaving the Steelers on the outside. Looking in, Rogers, now a 42-year-old veteran, faces a big decision about returning for his 22nd NFL season. The team has been patient, but time is running short as the market dries up. Legendary former Steelers safety, Rod Woodson recently went on NFL Network and urged the team to move on. He argued they should start planning for 2026 without banking on the future Hall of Famer. Woodson is not alone in his view, though Rogers probably tunes out opinions from retired players. Still, the Steelers see him as their top choice right now. That said, they could build depth later through free agency or the 2026 draft, keeping options open no matter what Rogers decides.
