About this episode
In the Bible, Matthew 12:43–45 states that an evil spirit that leaves a person goes to arid places in search of rest, but finds none. It then says, "I will return to the house I left". When it arrives, it finds the house clean and in order, and then takes seven more wicked spirits with it, and they live there. The final condition of that man is worse than the first.
John 14:31) Seeing then they had not the protection of Angels, and were burdened with the useless observances of the Law, and the traditions of the Pharisees, the Devil returns to his former dwelling, and, taking to him seven other demons, inhabits it as before.
43 "When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. 44 Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation."
