Starving Birds Wash Up on Adelaide Beaches

Dead birds are washing up on beaches around Adelaide in South Australia, and officials say they're starving due to a lack of fish killed off by an in. Algal bloom. Testing by the South Australian Research and Development Institute shows many of these birds were in poor condition with signs of starvation from disruptions in the ocean food chain. People have spotted the carcasses at spots like Glen-Ailed Beach and Marino South over recent weeks, raising concerns along the metropolitan coastline. The latest monitoring finds low or no levels of the harmful carinia algae at all 21 onshore sites near Adelaide, with the only active bloom. Now in the southwest of your peninsula, meanwhile, seasonal upwelling is stirring up foam along southern coasts, but test confirm is from other plankton species, not carinia, and it won't. Spread the bloom further. Necropsy results will appear on the Environment Department's website soon.
