Stafford Extends Rams Stay, Eyes Super Bowl

0:00On April 21st, Matthew Stafford, the Rams quarterback in last season's NFL Most Valuable Player, had everyone guessing if he'd retire after 20, 25. But he shut down those talks by committing to return for the 20-26 season, and now, word is, they're close to locking him down even longer. NFL Networks, Ian Rabaport, dropped the news that the Rams and Stafford have made real headway on a contract extension. It's not about a big raise right now, but extending his current two-year 84-million-dollar deal that runs through 20-26. The Rams love the guy, and say they'll keep him as long as he's game to play. At 38 years old this February, the 17-year vet still balled out last year, hitting 388 of 500, 97 passes for 4,707 yards, and 46 touchdowns over 17 games. He got at the team to the NFC Championship against the Seahawks, and now they're hungry for a Super Bowl run, right at home, and so-fi stadium.
