SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE IN ORDINARY ACTIVITIES
Colossians 3:1-4 NIV
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is yourlife, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
To find spiritual significance in ordinary activities we must understand:
- Our new life in Christ has changed everything
- Verse 1a - Since, then, you have been raised with Christ,
- Spiritual Identity Changed
- Spiritual Position Changed
- Set Your Heart on Things Above
- Verse 1b - SET YOUR HEARTS ON THINGS ABOVE, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
- Set Your Minds on Things Above
- 2 Corinthians 4:18 Common English Bible - We don’t focus on the things that can be seen but on the things that can’t be seen. The things that can be seen don’t last, but the things that can’t be seen are eternal.
- How do I set my heart and mind on things above?
- I renew my mind
-
- I view life through heaven’s perspective
-
- I view the world with a redemptive purpose
- Conclusion:
- A new position in Christ + A new perspective of life = spiritual significance in ordinary activities.
