Soto's Mets Debut: World Series Hopes

The New York Metz entered the 2026 season, with a revamped roster built around short-stop Francisco Lindoor and Outfielder Juan Soto. Soto inked the richest contract in baseball history last winter, a 15-year pack worth $765 million, locking him in, long-term alongside Lindoor. In his first year with the Metz, the 27-year-old Soto delivered big numbers. He batted 0.263 with a 0.396 on-base percentage, belted 43 home runs, drove in 105 runs, swiped. 38 bases to top the national league, and drew a franchise record 127 walks. Soto took a brief break from Metz Camp to play for the Dominican Republic and the World Baseball Classic. His team fell to the United States in the semi-finals by a score of 2-to-1, but Soto shone with a 0.261 average, 0.393 on-base mark, two homers, and four RBI's over six games.

1:07Now back in action, Soto makes his spring training debut Thursday against the Houston Astros. The Metz slotted him second in the lineup and in left field, right between Lindoor and Boba Shed, giving everyone a first look at their top hitting, Trio.
