SNEAKY Baltimore Ravens draft visit reported, ODDLY TIMED old Lamar Jackson contract news resurfaces

On today's show, we're living to hold the March X in contract negotiations, resurfacing for some reason over the course of the last couple of days. I've gotten some inquiries and questions about it and people asking, what's going on here? I felt like I should address that on this PM edition of the show, getting to that a little bit. Honestly, just talk about what Lamar and the negotiation and everything currently, what kind of has to happen here because hopefully they can get something done. I have a Lamar in the second part of the show, but in the first part of the show, there was more Ravens Draft news reported on Monday. It's an intriguing visit and something I've been kind of like soft warning people about a little bit. And I don't know if warnings are the right word because I don't think it'd be necessarily a bad thing, but obviously the Ravens have other needs that are bigger in my opinion.

2:03Then this one and the news was in Rappabour reporting that Montsord de Lane, the LSU cornerback, has the Bengals, the commanders and the Ravens as his final three visits. So in Rappabour saying that's about 10 or so visits, I guess, for de Lane at this point. So the Ravens, again, they're doing their due diligence, obviously. The Lane is an incredible player. I do know that the response to him being taken, like I'd be totally cool, that I think the Lane is an incredible player, and depending on the board, like again, if you're choosing between Bengi Oane and the Lane, I'm probably going to Bengi Oane, right? Spencer Fano, etc. It doesn't mean the Lane is a bad player, but obviously the Ravens have more needs. So de Lane is an incredible talent. We do know the Ravens cornerback position outside of Nate Wiggins, like there's not a lot of long-term certainty there. I don't expect Marlon Humphrey to be on this team for a lot longer. Adobe Ousier is not a long-term option. I think DJ Camp has potential, but you're still kind of figuring out who he is at the NFL

3:04level. You know, you got other intriguing young guys like Keon Martin, etc. It could maybe make impacts, but de Lane would be an instant impact player for you. He's someone that is one of the top cornerbacks in a cornerback rich draft, and I think having a duo of De Lane and Nate Wiggins long-term would be absolutely filthy in the best way. Like it'd be insane. Is NFL comparison action on NFL.com is Kenyan Mitchell? So hey, if you're telling me you can get Mitchell on this team, then you can sign me up for that. And obviously there's the connection. He's obviously from Silver Spring in the Maryland connection there. So he's six foot, around 187 pounds, and someone that is really good at anticipation. So he's able to anticipate breaks, and he's able to jump on guys when they're running their routes, and he's able to kind of tell when they're going to break their route, which is really good. He's able to get his hands on the football.

4:04You know, he has good footwork. He's a very big smotherer. So when he is right there, he just engulfs the guy basically and make sure that they cannot catch the football. And he's able to do really good in a lot of different roles. He's obviously over the course of his LSU career, which was only one season. He transferred from Virginia Tech, but as one LSU season, he had two interceptions. His career high was when it was at Virginia Tech his last season there. He had four interceptions, but someone who I think is very fluid, very smooth, and you know, some of the things that needs to get better at locating deep throws can be a problem for him, and a little bit with open field tackling, and sometimes can be baited by clever route combinations. I think working with guys like Zayn Rashad, maybe can really help him out. Look, Delane is not a player that necessarily be at the top of my board at number 14. And I wouldn't be mad if they make this selection, obviously it does also depend who is on

5:06the board. But to me, as I have said, a lot on this show, Warner is a very sneaky need to me that if we're being honest, I'm not shocked whatsoever if the Ravens take one on the first two days of the track. Maybe even in the second round, I know Dan's a little ponds is someone with a lot of people like, but maybe this could be because I don't know, Delane could go anywhere from like he could be someone that slips into the top five, maybe he could be someone that maybe falls to 14. I don't know. Maybe 15. Maybe you could trade back for it. I'm not really sure at this point what his value is, but at the end of the day, he's someone that is going to be an instant impact playmaker, and I would probably assume his value was closer to top 10 that it is top 15. So I'm not even sure he makes it there, but he's someone that I think the Ravens would seriously consider. And if Daniel one is not on the board, if Spencer Fano is not on the board, he'd be someone that you would be able to address, you know, not the corners like a huge need

6:07right now, but certainly I think you need more options that you can never have enough healthy corners. And I think that Delane with his ability and working with guys like Jesse Mentor and Anthony Weaver, etc, etc. Mike Mickens in that secondary with the secondary coach aspect of it as well. I think it'd be a perfect landing spot for Delane. And him coming in, would I think give me a lot of, I guess, security in what the Ravens long term outlook would be at corner because right now I don't really have a lot of security in that. It's Nate Wiggins and everybody else long term where you really don't have any other answers, but Delane would do that. And you don't have to, like you don't have to take Delane in order to feel secure in this. Like they could take ponds in the second round. And I'd be like, okay, that's another guy. I feel like it could be a long term answer for Baltimore here, but you would want Delane to play. He would play instantly and kind of be the question of like, right, where does that put some of these other guys? Like what is Marlon's role? What is Wu Zie's role? But you know, this is a BPA team. They have been forever.

7:07And if Delane is the best option on their board and you know you can fill a long term need while also getting that short, short term impact in year one, like I think it could be something that the Ravens end up doing. So interesting. We shall see. But for Baltimore, well, again, watch out for corner. I'm telling you. I'm turning into anything and maybe they just take a guy late and roll what they have this year. But I'm telling you, I would not be shocked if they take a corner back earlier than some people anticipate. Come over the second part of the show. But all right, the March accent contract situation, somehow still getting attention, but not the new negotiations, the old negotiations somehow are back into the fold and of course it comes from old friend Mike Florio and I've gotten a couple of inquiries on this. I guess report or news and like, oh, is this true? Is it true? So I just want to address it here and then talk just about Lamar situation as it is right now because you know, there's really no point to me in talking about the old stuff. The old stuff is done. So why do we need to but like why are we rehashing this here for Mike Florio? Well, the reason apparently is because Mike Florio's article on April 11th here 2026 said quote, the initial ruling in the collusion grievance filed by the NFL players association on behalf of the more Jackson Russell Wilson and kind of the Murray jet new light on the negotiations between Jackson and the Ravens that preceded his five year deal in 2023.

12:15The appeal ruling adds a key fresh detail to and two different portions of page 14 decision three person panel rights that the Ravens twice offered three year fully guaranteed contracts to Jackson. And there was nothing in the ruling about other key terms like annual compensation and didn't say whether the three year contract concluded in no trade clause, which would have as Mike Florio says set the stage for undershirt your fray and see in March 2026. But this confuses me because Mike Florio links in his article opposed from June 24th, 2025 where in this, which is the 61 page ruling that was put out on June 24th, 2025, this article, in this Mike Florio says that quote, after the 2022 season, with Jackson's five year rookie contract completed, he again sought a fully guaranteed contract. The Ravens offered two different three year deals that the team considered to be fully

13:16guaranteed. Jackson declined both offers and requested a trade. So am I not like getting someone here is this not old information that is being presented as new information genuinely like I don't know like am I genuinely missing something here? I'm genuinely asking that question. Is this just that in the June article, Mike Florio said that these two different three year deals were something the team considered to be fully guaranteed. And then in this new article, then like it just became all they were three year fully guaranteed contracts. Maybe that's the key difference. But later down in this article from a couple of days ago, Mike Florio says quote, it's unknown why Jackson didn't accept either of these fully guaranteed deals offered by the Ravens. If they were in the neighborhood of the prevailing market value of the time, 51.5 million set by Eagles quarterback Jalen Hertz, if they included a no tag clause, Jackson arguably should have taken both deals, regardless based on new appeal ruling, the Ravens offered

14:18Jackson a three year fully guaranteed contract, not once but twice. Isn't this already the information there's no one again, I'm just I'm very confused on this situation. I don't know why it's being like talked about unless that was the key detail. There's another key detail that I'm just like missing here. Isn't this just the same information presented like nearly a year later? I just I don't understand. I genuinely don't. Why are we talking about this and our articles being put out about this? If there is a new contract situation to talk about, which again, the Ravens have never been on a contract with Lamar still currently, I guess like relevancy stuff is I would rather hear information about the new contract and as opposed to the old contract stuff that was done three years ago. And this other stuff happening who even knows how long ago in terms of these negotiations. So again, you know, we can have the debate about, you know, whether he should have taken those deals or not, that's fine, but that's this isn't anything to me at least it looks like it appears that is like ground breakingly new or anything, right?

15:21I think that happened in June of last year. So yes, with Lamar's current contract situation, obviously they should get an extension done hopefully they will. I'm hoping that that's the case at least where we know his cap it next year they pushed some of the money online where his cap it is going to increase from the 74.5 million it was. Obviously, it's not anymore to 84.5 in 2027. You know, you can't build a team that way and you know, long you push the money online the more complicated it gets. So again, two very different contract situations and negotiations and I mean, we'll see how it all unfolds, but this kind of just feels like another situation unless I'm missing something genuinely that is just kind of like let's talk about Lamar Jackson for a weird reason where it's again, if it's a new appeal ruling, that's great like that's something that happened. But this just feels like a new spin on something that was already reported this being reported or presented as if it is new news. So I don't know, it's just crazy.

16:22I want to do again, address it because I've heard a couple people talk about it and a couple people have asked me like, what's this mean, what's going on here? Just like another hey, let's talk about Lamar Jackson type moment for me. But if there's anything I'm missing and I come aware of that, we'll definitely rehash this conversation, but hopefully the Ravens and Lamar, because I think that even though they push money on the line, it doesn't mean that all of a sudden, nope, well, can't negotiate until next. No, that's not how that works. I mean, obviously the Ravens and Lamar do generally not negotiate during the season, but there's still time to get something done and other Ravens are busy with draft right now. But maybe they can get something done after maybe in June or July or something before training camps. So still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Lamar's long term future because there's not an extension in place. I'm copying it. Something's going to get done. I really hope it does. But for now, obviously, until that extension is signed, obviously, there will be at least for me a little bit of where I'm like, all right, let's make it official. I have confidence. Let's make it official. That's kind of where I am right now. That's all I have for you here today. I'm Locked on Ravens.
