Sir David Jason Mourns High Street's Decline

0:00On April 25, Sir David Jason, the 86-year-old legend from only fools and horses, is straight up morning the end of Britain's high street. He says small shops are barely hanging on as delivery apps take over. With guys on pushbikes delivering everything from meals to beds faster than anyone expected. Back in the day, when he played shop assistant Grandville in open-all hours during the 70s and 80s, life buzzed around those corner stores. These stuck together and the local shop was the heart of it all. Now folks order online without stepping out, and even big supermarkets are getting out maneuvered by these quick deliveries. Jason calls it a sad shift away from that high street by we used to know. He's bringing back some nostalgia with a new 90-minute TV special called Open All Hours Inside Out, airing May 7 at APM. He'll reprise Grandville in a fresh scene by the original writer, and just to keep the classics alive, last year he dropped into Del Boy mode on Radio X, sending fans wowed
