Sinister Six Cancelled: Drew Goddard's Spider-Man Story

Screenwriter Drew Goddard recently opened up about why his Sinister 6 movie never happened. This was a planned spin-off from the amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, announced back in 2013. It would have brought together Spider-Man's top villains for a big showdown, but it got canceled after Sony's huge cyber attack in 2014. Gardard had an office right on the Sony lot, so he personally saw the FBI agent swarm the place with helicopters buzzing overhead. The hack, blamed on a group called The Guardians of Peace, lead to massive amounts of secret company data. Gardard says that chaos really killed the project, even as Sony struck a deal with Marvel to bring Spider-Man into their universe. The villain team up idea lived on years later in 2021's Spider-Man, No Way Home, which featured baddies like Green Goblin, Doctor. Octopus and Electro from earlier films.
