Signs From the Universe; Should We Follow Them?

Sometimes when I ask for a sign from my Spirit Guides I receive two: one that says "do it" and almost immediately, another that says "dont do it" What could this mean? Has what we've been sold spirituality and synchronicity to be, actually lead us astray?
