Should Cancel Culture be Cancelled? - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast

About this episode

In 1981 Nile Rogers of the band Chic wrote a song called “Your Love is Cancelled.”

Fast-forward to around 2010 and people started cancelling those they disagreed with, and the term “cancel culture” came into common use. Social media sites made it simple to gather a gang of keyboard warriors ready to do battle against anyone who said or did things they disagreed with.

Suddenly it became dangerous to be different – you might be cancelled!

Those who practice cancel culture say they’re holding people accountable. Those who dislike cancel culture say it’s censorship and online bullying.

Can you walk the line between the two? Can you assume that the intentions are good, even when the action looks misguided to you?

When you can do that, you’re taking care of your mental wellbeing and letting others be in charge of their own.
