He made the drive up to LSU to check out that game. It was a fun game for LSU, not for Davos, Swinney and not for Clemson. The NFL kicks off in a couple of days as well. So we are back boys. Yes, Mikey. One little thing. All right. So Taylor reaches out to me and goes, hey, Mike, can you help me out with a tailgate for LSU? So I call in favors. I get him set up. This guy is like, hey, we're very happy to host him. Can't wait to turn this guy into an LSU fan. He didn't show up.

3:04Really? Huh? Well, what you're known as an LSU? First off, it was pouring rain on and off throughout the day. When it's pouring rain, you don't really want to be bouncing around tailgate to tailgate. And the other thing, the parade grounds at LSU, if you've seen one tailgate, you've seen them all. And everyone is very friendly. Everyone, you just have to go into a tailgate and say, hey, this is my second time at Baton Rouge, the first time I went. Brian Kelly absolutely ruined my experience so bad that I had to put this this trip back on my bucket list to do it the right way. And everybody's like, oh, come on in. The gumbo is nice and warm free. Yeah, I really sink into it. I give him my class. I'm like, yeah, class of 04. In what? What school are you class of 04? In a place where people are very drunk and don't know the difference. We did this at the chiefscape. We just told everyone we were chief fans. You were there with me at Arrowhead Stadium. And we got to every tailgate, which tailgate,

4:08did you set Taylor up at? Was it like a Bougroom, McFarland? Was it like someone like that? No, if it was Bougroom, McFarland, I would have went. He could have been there. You wouldn't know. So he didn't set you up there. I think there is nothing like being in a college town because I, I texted T-Bab A Bear who played at LSU was a national champion at LSU. I said, hey, T-Bab, where are the places that I should hit? He gave me a breakfast spot to go to. Luis, I believe, when you are in a college town, if I give you $100, you are living like an absolute king for the rest of the day because I got to Luis and I was like, let me get the hash browns that T-Bab recommended, the pancakes he recommended. Let me get a coffee, a side of bacon, some eggs, and then they bring the bill over and they're like, that'll be $22. I'm surprised it was that much. Seriously, that was your first time to Death Valley? It was my second time. So the first time I went was

5:112024 LSU at Alabama and Alabama beat them by about 50 points. It was a drumming that day. They're good. The pick six that LSU had was the loudest I've ever heard a stadium. It felt like it was shaking. It felt like Clemson was going to make it a bit of a game. You had a little weird magic that first possession where it throws the interception, you're like, oh, wow, this could get a little weird. But Saturn and I, it's in Death Valley. You can't top that experience. So you go there and Lane Kiffin is running out of that tunnel and it's not Mississippi. It's LSU when you realize this is why I took the job. That and he's got three players, NFL players at every position. And that's his team without the NFL players who are going to join his team in the coming weeks. They're really good. The bigger story for me out of that game was not Lane Kiffin, was not LSU. I know they're going to be good. He's a good coach. He's great at collecting talent. He is great at developing quarterbacks. He's done it now with Chambliss and he's done it with

6:14Jackson Dart. And he's going to do it here with Sam Levin. Even though Levin comes in pretty developed, he's going to make that guy better. The story for me is just how far Clemson has fallen at Davos. Swinney. I mean, if he makes it the season, I'm going to be surprised. You guys, I would be surprised. I think I think it's going to come to a point at the end of the season where Clemson has to be the one to say, Davos, thank you for everything you've done for Clemson. Davos Swinney built Clemson into what they are today. Davos Swinney is going to get a statue outside of their stadium. Davos Swinney is not the right coach for Clemson anymore because of the standard that he's built. And Davos reluctance to adjust to the times in college football where he just refuses to use the transfer portal. He refuses to use NIL. And he's just doing the, oh, the only thing we care about here is God's name, image and likeness. Davos, when some games, when some big games, we want to see you get back to that 2018 national championship standard that you've fallen off tremendously off.

7:17Yeah. Yeah. I would say that Davos going to make the season just out of respect. Out of just the respect Clemson has for him and he has for the organization. But my question to you guys is, is that a good job? Like is that like it's large? No, I think it's a good job. Like if you're willing to play by today's rules. And I think Davos was not playing by today. I think they have resources. I think people want to go to Clemson. I think people like the stadium. They like the facilities. Davos was just unwilling to do what Lane Kiffin is doing at LSU. You know? And for the most part, it's an unbelievably easy conference to compete in when you have Miami. And then occasionally a Louisville or an SMU is going to pop up. Clemson should be there for the taking to getting them back to being a national powerhouse. Better job Clemson, a Florida state right now. They're both good jobs. I mean, they're comparable. Yeah, they're comparable. But I'm just saying, if you're, if there's only so many coaches that are worth getting such a high profile job that are available every year, if Clemson and Florida state are both

8:20available and we tend to believe that they are, which job is better? Which job would you want? I think it would be Florida state just because Florida state is further removed from being a national title contender to where you have a fan base that's more starved for trying to get back there. And then you're in Florida, which should theoretically be easier to recruit people to. But I do think you're splitting hairs when you're choosing between Clemson and Florida state. Same. I just think with Davos, the days of Davos, replacing someone in Texas or being the next Alabama, those days are over. But Davos not good enough. Who's going to want that guy to be their coach, right? I mean, he's going to have to go to rehab. He's going to have to go to like FIU, FAU, and try to make his way back to one of those bigger programs. There's not a big program in America that's going to hire Davos today, not one, not one. It's strange because it seems like it, it seems like something that Davos could very easily fix. Like we're going to go into the transfer

9:23portal. We're going to bring in some of the top players. But he is so like fist down on the table being like, I'm going to do it my way. We are going to recruit people through high school. This is the right way to build a program where it's like, if you're not competing for national championships, like your way is obviously not working. Yes. My hammy has a new quarterback every year. You're not even competing for ACC championships. We have a lot of people who are going to be like, I mean, Louisville just takes Ohio State's backup, who's not good enough to play in front of Julian Sayain and Louisville is good. They got a quarterback. I will say this, Mikey, I do agree with you that Clemson would let Davos finish out the year. But all of a sudden that week three game against North Carolina in what Clemson calls Death Valley. That's that's a whole other point. That's a little death Valley is done. Sorry, sorry. You lost Death Valley. Yes. Right. Yeah. Week three North Carolina at Clemson. I've got that one circled now as a toss up game for North Carolina. You'll be able to check if you have all bets are off the rare game where you have

10:28where you have the better coach. I mean, loser leaves town. Might have a better roster too. The whole check is playing the game better than Davos at least. Not saying much. Let's get to a game. First off Taylor before we get to this game, Mikey's going to ask us whether or not we we think teams are good. If our opinion has been changed or not, based on what we saw over the weekend, there were good games. There were thrilling games. But some of these better better teams didn't play great opponents, but we'll do that in just a second. Taylor, you had a bad take that you'd like to take back. What is going on here? Yeah. Yeah. So this is this is just me being accountable because I know some people praise me for saying, Oh, wow, Taylor, your takes are always right. Taylor, they're calling you tail oracle with how well you see the tail oracle. I'm trying to get that off the ground. You're trying to get it off the ground. People aren't getting it off the ground for you. I'll tell you this, Taylor. Sounds like a great idea for a segment. Tail oracle. Maybe maybe a Thursday night betting segment.

11:31Going into Thursday football, working the way up. Yes, but I'm proud of him. He has people saying something that they're not saying. I'm just in an effort to build it up. Well, if I say it, people are saying it. But the take that I got so wrong person is saying it. So last year when I said Fernando Mendoza was going to be like the breakout starring in college football, he wins the Heisman. He's the number one pick in the NFL draft. I try to try to replicate that this year. And I went to Oklahoma State and drew a Mestemaker. And I said, Morris is coming over from North Texas. He's bringing a lot of his guys over. It's similar to the way Signetti did it from James Madison to Indiana. I think you could see a bump like that for Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State. It's a 15 and a half point favorite on the road at Tulsa. And the final score is not indicative of how uncompetitive Oklahoma State was in that game with somebody like Drew Mestemaker. Tulsa dragged them. Oklahoma State was two of six on forked down.

12:34They didn't look like they belonged on the same field as Tulsa. And Tulsa wins back-to-back years against a, I guess an in-state rival now. If you're Oklahoma State and you can't be Tulsa, this is again the Rutgers UMass situation where I think a team like Oklahoma State should have to hand over their spot in the big 12 to a team like Tulsa. So you're taking the take back. That's it. You've seen enough of a Mestemaker, whatever his name is. Yeah, Mestem, I've seen enough of Oklahoma State. It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. What you have to be willing to get off the take as fast as possible. And this is me seeing the Titanic going down. And the band is playing. And I'm saying, I'm getting on this, I'm getting on the wife wrapped and we're getting back to sure. So you know this take is not going to repair itself, meaning three or four weeks from now, you might be right about this. You've heard he settled in your own mind. It is going down like the Titanic. Titanic is what I tried to say. I saw how that offensive line went head-to-head against

So we'll start. We'll start here. LSU came in. This was a 10 point game stew. I believe you took Clemson or or or or I did there took Clemson. I took Clemson. I was four and two though on the week. I like to take some credit here. Yeah. I was just trying to set you up there. But everybody was on Clemson plus 10 while they lose by 41. LSU has your opinion of this team changed after one week.

21:03Um, I thought LSU was going to be good. LSU was very, very good. Like listen, if you're asking me, did it change? I think they're better than I thought they were going to be, but I thought they were going to be good. They're just overwhelming. They're not just good. They're really good and have a chance of course of winning a national championship. Yes. I think that's the takeaway after watching the LSU game that LSU should be in the national title conversation where you're looking at their odds to win the title. They're plus 1500. They're behind Oregon. They're behind Indiana. They're behind Miami. I think I think LSU's performance on Saturday night proved that at the very least they should be lumped into that Indiana Oregon bunch of teams that have less than a thousand plus a thousand odds to win a national title because Sam Levit didn't really blow anybody away in terms of his ability to pass the ball. And I think if LSU has a downfall, it's going to be their ability to throw the ball downfield. But what Lane Kiffin does as a play caller is second

22:03and none right now in the country. Yep. Yep. And they have NFL players coming. So I love Lane. The way Lane Kiffin just swagger's up and down the sideline is it's a sight to hold. It's amazing. Yes. And the swagger, it works when he's winning the way he won Saturday night. That first interception of the game, I was making funnel Lane Kiffin. I'd say I'm loving it. They had the last left. Anyway, next team. Yeah. Hold on. So the the guy that I was setting Taylor up with his for the tailgate, I texted him. I said, how you guys feeling about Lane? And he goes perfect man for our crazy. Yeah. And you know what? I think he's right. Yep. Yep. Yeah. That's why he wanted that job. Yeah. All right. Next team up. Alabama, putting a drumming on East Carolina 48-10. Has your opinion of Alabama changed because we were kind of down on him a little bit. My opinion of their quarterback has changed. I didn't know who the quarterback was. I didn't know

23:04if they had a quarterback. I watched a little bit of that game. That quarterback is really, really good. But again, it was against Eastern Carolina. So I guess my opinion changed only from the standpoint. That quarterback appears to be pretty good. And if he's that good against good teams, they're going to be pretty good. I think Alabama. So my opinion, I'm keeping it the same where I'm going in with a lot of trepidations with this Alabama team because I want to see them against better competition like Stujas mentioned. I think they're going to be this is going to be a good test for them this week. Go playing Kentucky, Kentucky Kenny Minshee transfers Andy. And he looked really good against young sound state. So I'm going to go the jury's still out, Mikey, on this Alabama team because I'm not ready to to come to any observations or conclusions after beating ECU. Mikey, is that one of the options? I mean, I don't know. Sure. Has your opinion changed? No, no, it hasn't changed. Jerry's still up. Okay. I'm just saying the quarterback is better than we expected. That's all

24:06where at least he looked like he was pretty damn good through one week. But again, it's the East Carolina pirates. I mean, did I get the nickname right? Yeah, they were profiling their court. This is why this is why you can't take anything out of this Alabama game. They're profiling this quarterback. And they were like, this is where he started. And then he took off three years to work in construction. And you're like, and now he's playing in Bryant, Danny Stadium. Is it Keelon Russell? Yeah, that's their that's Alabama's five star. Okay. Yeah, he's good. All right. Next to our teams with higher expectations that managed to win this week. But maybe not as convincing as we thought. We'll start with Oregon going back to Saturday. They're in a dog fight with Boise State at home. And they end up winning 3427 late. As your opinion of Oregon changed after one week. My opinion of Boise State has changed after one week. That team looked pretty good. I mean, they hung with Oregon.

25:12And then the president has my opinion of Oregon changed. I still think just with that quarterback. It's Oregon. They have athletes like they're going to be in the mix. They're going to be, you know, a national championship title contender. And they deserve to be their good team. Again, I thought Boise State was the team that impressed me. I think Oregon just played they played pretty good. Boise State played a lot better than I think most people expected. But I think Oregon's good. And no, my opinion hasn't changed. So where my opinion has changed with Oregon. I love their skill. I love their skill players. McLean and more Evan Stewart at receiver. Dante more at quarterback obviously. I'm not sure if I really trust Dan landing. Dan landing feels like the Michael Jordan of like James Franklin's where it's like I really need to see this guy start winning big games and having his team ready to play before I'm buying the hype that all the sudden Oregon for as good a history as they have within the past like 25 years in college football.

26:15They still haven't won a national championship. And I really haven't seen anything from Dan landing to think he's going to be the one that gets this program over the hump. Hmm. I would just say that Boise State wasn't the big game you should measure it. This is more of like the Michael Jordan's and Mario Christa balls where you lose to Louisville and SMU and you beat Ohio State. That's more the Dan landing avenue right now. They have at their at USC in three weeks next week tell you know where they're at. Where's that your boy mess taker. Yeah Oklahoma State. They're going to if they don't beat that team by 55, then my opinion is going to go this or the team might not even make the playoffs because that that Oklahoma State team. I was offended watching how bad that Oklahoma State team was. Go back to Oregon. I agree with you. I trust their quarterback. I trust their wide receivers. Their skill positions. I thought their lines were just going to overwhelm Boise State and they didn't like I was I was looking forward to watching their

27:17defensive line just absolutely manhandled Boise State and they couldn't. I mean they got some big sacks when it mattered but for the most part Boise State was able to do what they wanted to do. Yes. Their defense in their secondary leaves a lot to be desired like when they have to go to Ohio State and have to be matched up with that receiving group and Jeremiah Smith. That's going to be a pretty big game for Oregon determining if this team is actually a national title contender. We are talking about a coach here who's 49 and 8 since he took over an orrogate. I mean just say it. It's got three losses the last two years. And most of them are to the teams that won the national championship. How far did they get in the playoffs last year? How far did that team advance? Do you remember? I think they won a couple of games right? I mean they lost two Indiana in the semi's in the semi finals. Okay. No shame. I can't believe I'm saying

28:17this. There's no shame. It's losing the Kurt Sigmund in the end. I'm not like Indiana. It used to bring maximum shame and now there's no shame. Oh god. Lost my 34. Yeah. Well that's true. Yes. They got blown out my Kurt Sigmundi. All right. He's nice. Like next up Michigan number 16 hosting Western Michigan. And in the most controversial eventings they win on a Hail Mary 1312. Has your opinion of Michigan changed? I didn't think Michigan was that good coming into the season. So if you're asking me can Michigan win? Can they make the playoffs? Yes. Can they win the national championship? No. That game was so ridiculous. Like Mikey, were you aware that we're looking at a different clock than the officials looking at? I had no idea. I thought I thought one of the things the officials say at the beginning of every game is the clock is right. Like that is what you're

29:19supposed to be looking at. And they're like, no, no, no, no, there's this secret clock somewhere that had one more second on it. Right. But I will say that the whole controversy of the refs gave the game to Michigan. No one wants to give anything to Michigan. Okay. I mean seriously. Now, the yard Hail Mary. Listen, listen, think about what's happened at Michigan over the last three or four seasons. There's John Harbock. There's Jim Harbock. Excuse me, who won a national championship. That's going to be retracted at some point. Okay. There's the Connor Stallion's incident. There's sure Roe Moore to straight down straight jacket after the season last year. No one is saying, Hey, you know what? We need to help out Michigan. Certainly not the referees. They don't get together saying, Hey, let's give them one more play. And the one more play they gave them was a he from 55 yards. I mean, Jesus. So they put the ball the one. So my opinion of Michigan has changed just because I think the rebuild that Kyle Wittingham has in Ann Arbor is going to be

30:20a lot more difficult than I think people probably originally expected where Bryce Underwood, give him credit for completing that second attempt at the Hail Mary. And he was he was strutting around after that. The Michigan fans are storming the field for beating Western Michigan. They shouldn't be doing that. Bryce Underwood, if if that game was, you know, 48 minutes, Bryce Underwood was terrible for 47 minutes and 40 and 59 seconds. Yes. Teller, I'm so proud of you. Michigan and their fan base should be celebrating nothing. Dude, that's that was a victory. Don't celebrate anything. You know what? When you win a game like that, all right, be quiet, walk out of the stadium, like you just rob the bank because that's what you did. Don't celebrate robbing the bank. Just rob the bank and get the hell out of dodge. That's it. My opinion of Michigan has absolutely changed. That's that's a game where you go. If nothing else, Michigan's defense and

31:20offensive line should absolutely just steamroll everybody and they're going to just win this game. It'll be ugly. It'll be boring, but they're going to beat Western Michigan because they're just going to overwhelm them. They couldn't even do that. It was it was they were man handled by Western Michigan and just say that out loud. Yeah. Man handled by Western Michigan. If there are football gods this week, Oklahoma versus Michigan. What if UMass is kind of like college football darling this year and then Rutgers is looking back at their winning like, hey, remember when everybody made fun of us for lighten off those fireworks that UMass team. Look at them. They're in the playoffs now. Pretty good pop lots. Yeah. Yeah. Here's what I can tell you. Okay. Now, listen, you would have left it me like Indiana did it. So what do you want to do? They would. I know it's against Stanford. I know Stanford's not very good. They traveled across the country. They beat Stanford the way you're supposed to beat Stanford. Mensa was ridiculous and Malachai Tony is better. I mean Malachai Tony reminds me. I know everyone's saying this of Tariq Hill. He is so good, man. And I'm not going to be surprised if Tony is sitting in the Heisman Trophy presentation because he's one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy. I could see that happening actually. Yeah. We should amend that rule, right? Like there's no reason that Malachai Tony should have to come back to Miami next season and not be in the NFL. Like it's similar to right now in Columbus when you're

34:28watching Jeremiah Smith manhandle and dominate people outside at receiver. Like this guy probably would have been a top five pick in the NFL draft last year if Jeremiah Smith was allowed to enter. And it feels like Malachai Tony would be a top 15 pick the way he's a playmaker at that receiver position. If you look at that schedule, Mikey, the only game that the Cains could lose is At Notre Dame. And that's debatable. So whoa, but at North Carolina. Want to know, man, you're undefeated. Look good, too. You should have a better record than Michigan right now. And it's the week before they have to go to Notre Dame. So it's a little look ahead spot for them. Yep, no doubt. All right.
