The only condition on the payment of this dividend that we're going to be making.
So it's $5,000 to every adult, the only caveat I have is that the dividend that we're making must be spent in the United States of America. Several Republican candidates were in the spotlight and that would include Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who is speaking here about his opponent, Democrat James Tallerico. He is the most radical Democrat in Texas history, but he's also the most well-funded. And that's why today I need your prayers, your votes and your support. If we lose Texas, we lose the common sense revolution. That was Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton. Also tonight, John Federman, Democratic Senator of Pennsylvania, made a surprise virtual appearance to support David McCormick, Republican Senator from Pennsylvania who was running for reelection in November. We go to Cupertino, California next. It was a historic day for Apple with the unveiling of the iPhone Duo.
This is the company's first foldable smartphone. CEO John Ternis described the device as two phones glued together. When unfolded, the Duo provides the largest display ever for an iPhone at 7.6 inches. There is also a 5.4-inch outer screen, and Apple's pencil style is can be used. The pricing starts at around $2,000. The iPhone Duo represents the largest design change in the history of Apple's flagship product, and today's unveiling served as the debut of Ternis as CEO. I've spent much of my life at this company. And I continue to be inspired every single day by the curiosity, invention, and relentless pursuit of excellence that define Apple. Our teams bring an incredible level of collaboration and care to everything they do, all in service of a mission that has guided us from the very beginning to make the best products in the world. Apple CEO John Ternis, who incidentally took the helmet the beginning of the month, Bloomberg's
ad Ludlow was at the event in Cupertino. There will be a billion smartphone ship this year. It will all kinds of smartphones. There will be maybe 22 to 23 million foldables. And that's a small, nascent market. But it's a market or category or segment that will grow the forecasters believe, because Apple is now a part in it. They might not have been first, but they're going to give them a menton to that category. That is Bloomberg's ad Ludlow. Today, he shares an Apple finished down 3.10 of 1%. The Jude oil prices surge today after Iran said it has no intention of backing down from war with the U.S. An official from the Islamic Republic said counter strikes will escalate if the U.S. continues attacking its territory and infrastructure. The official also said Iran's leaders see the war as an existential threat that leaves them little choice, but to keep fighting. At the same time today, President Trump said the war will end after the midterm elections. The war will end immediately after the election, because they can't hold out any longer.
They're desperate to try and affect the election so that we can get a nice week group of people in there and leave them alone and let them have their nuclear weapon. All they want is a nuclear weapon. And if they had a nuclear weapon, the whole world is in deep trouble. Trump went on to say oil prices will not likely come down until after the midterms. Today, WTI was up 3.3% in New York trading to $96.5 and Brent topped $101 for the first time since July. Now that research in senoiled prices and treasury yields higher, more so at the long end of the curve today, we had the 10-year rising five basis points to 4.84%. This move also reflected the market's disappointment with the size of the treasury's next bond to the buyback. Up to $6 billion in government debt will be purchased in the 10-20-year segment. Now many in the market had been looking for an increase of between $7-10 billion. This program shows treasury secretary Bessons resolved to stem the recent rise in borrowing
cost. Here is Bloomberg's Michael McKee. The market thinks that perhaps the ramping up of the number to $6 billion is really more a question of trying to bring down rates. That didn't work immediately. The rates have gone up quite a bit on the 10-year note. This is just early moments, but we'll see how this plays out rates right now higher than they were when they first said they were going to do this. That is Bloomberg's Michael McKee. The 10-year treasury last quoted in New York at a yield of 4.84%. We're getting some more information on last Sunday's crash of an Amazon cargo aircraft at the Miami International Airport. The NTSB released some of the cockpit recording and one of the pilots warned that the aircraft was coming in too fast, nearly two minutes ahead of time. And at the last second, the pilot urged the crew to abort the landing. This plane eventually came in fast and barrelled past the end of the runway, smashing into a van and hitting a compact SUV.
Five people were killed. The Canadian government is planning to show investors a pitch book laying out projects worth billions of dollars. According to a document seen by Bloomberg News, the pitch book includes a battery plant in Ontario and a data center campus in Alberta. There are also opportunities in minerals and mining as well as clean energy. This pitch book is intended to be shared with some of the world's biggest institutional investors, including BlackRock and Saudi Arabia's public investment fund. And that is news when you want it.
