1:02Good afternoon. How are you? Very well. This is such a nice September. We had the smoke season, we had rain season, we had Lord knows what out all the summer. But this September has been really nice, man. I'm really enjoying it. Okay. I'll have you be able to regroup since the news that Samansky was going to the mine. Or is it Samansky was going to the miners and Embersome is getting trekked? I know you're fired up about the first day of camp in the line combinations. I love that coming in hot. Well, you know, and I think it's for me, it's like I think that cockspin. I love the verbal from Babcock. You know, he's really honest. Look, I, you know, I'm talking about Blue Shark today. You know, he's a great player. I'm going to watch him. We're going to evaluate. I think Maca Madulin, I think what they did with him to put him in the lead. I think that's the idea. And I know that they're going to have seven guys. And I suspect Embersome and Maca Madulin will be the,

2:03the guys who rotate. But there were some surprises for me. I didn't realize that that because I was thought, you know, during his time in Toronto and then previously in Detroit, not so much. But wanted to have sticks along the wall. But if Maca Madulin can play on the right side, that really helps them. Because it gives them a guy who could play both sides. And so you really got, you know, you've got a lot of utility at the back end of your defense. As far as some asking is concerned, Maca, my concern, I like, Doc is as a center. I haven't seen him. So we'll see. But it's early days. And I like what Babcock saying. The problem, of course, is there's not a lot of time. And I was pleased to see him. But I coward up with the second line. We'll see how that goes. But it's nice to see the young player get a real opportunity here. Don't know how long it's going to last. Don't know how long it's a voice going to be out. But at least it's an opportunity for him to show well. Yeah, I do remember like, I remember when he was in Detroit.

3:03Like he had Brian Raffalski as a right-paired offense. And then Chris Chellez, but Chereo is barely played, right? Like he was like, they're. Yeah. Remember seven. So they had two lefties the year they won it in the Stanley Cup Final in 2008. And then I think in 2009, it was kind of a similar thing in the postseason that it was lots of lefties. And really the only righty that they had was Raffalski. So I think Babcock's like, hey, if you got guys who are good, he'll do it. Mark, I really think the order is going to carry eight defensemen to start the year. They'll have to make a decision when Savoy and Yan Mark come back. But I just, I don't think they're going to want to risk having a guy like Spencer Stashton going on waiver, even though I think it might be a low chance. I just don't think they want to risk it. Regoulas coming off an injury again. Like you don't, you just, you want to have more defensive depth if you can. We all know the season's going to be long. And you don't, you don't need to have max, like no offense, some ax Jones. They've got, you know, 15 other forwards.

4:04If by chance he gets claimed on waivers. Yeah. And you got the thing about defensemen is you, you know, you can go in one game and lose two guys. And, and, you know, you need to have defense that you can never, they always say you never have too many defensemen. And I do believe in that. And they lost twice, that year or a year ago, not that, you know, I mean, if he's not the, you know, a world beater. But you, you don't want to, you don't want to constantly lose those guys. And, and I think staff, you know, a staff, they doesn't have a, you know, a lot of range to his game. But he can play in the NHL. He can defend in the NHL. So that has value. And, and, you know, I like Emerson as an defenseman. And if he's the seventh guy, that's real depth that they have. And they're still figuring things out. And then the other thing is we've talked about this before. I always worry about Jake Walman. You missed like 29 games a year ago. And, and that's a guy who might get hurt and you, you know, you lose, you know, a player on waivers and then he gets hurt and you're like, damn it. You know, so I like the idea of eight.

5:05It's not like they're, you know, the, the guys that they would send down who are eligible for waivers. Among the forwards are not irreplaceable. You know, I like Max Jones, but it's not like there's no other player on earth who can do what he does. No, not, not at all. The, the Winnipeg Jets are coming to town tomorrow. Most of their big names won't be there at all. I'm the Conor Halibut situation. Now, goalies historically, you know, don't get a massive return and deals. But, you know, Halibut is different than most goalies, right? Patrick, who was probably like, you know, pat, I'm trying to think Patrick, who is trade well Curtis Joseph was traded after that. But, but there's just not a lot of big name, you know, top five goalies who get traded very often, right? So, no, I think the Jets, they'll, they'll be interest from some teams. But, I don't know if the interest will be enough.

6:05Like, I honestly could see, and I think Shabble Dayoff has, I think there's some pressure here for him to say, you know, I got to send a message that we're not just going to, you know, take it when a player says they want to get traded. You're entitled to say you're going to get traded, but I'm entitled not to trade you until I find a deal. It's good for my organization. And I think it's imperative that he does that. Yeah, and with goal tenders, you know, it like there are teams who are absolutely, you know, hell of luck would be considered an upgrade. But they've, you know, like look at Edmonton, they've, they've, you know, over the last several months beginning like last December. The organization and stand moment have picked their guys. They have got three guys who are new from like a year ago in in jerry Anderson's hurt and definitely by so I'm not saying they're not interested in should he be, you know, available and willing to come to Edmonton.

8:12But they're probably, you know, they've sort of set sail with this group and they'd like to see what they have. So and when you're at the beginning of training camp, you're still trying to, you know, figure things out. And so I don't know that it would be an ideal time to trade him and they want a gold tender in return. So now you're, if you're looking for a good gold tender as part of the deal for Halibut, then, you know, what are the reasons why the team that's, you know, trading the good gold tender for Halibut, what are the reasons that would make it compelling. Now, you know, to me, Buffalo's an interesting option, but and I think that Carolina's got a defense went out there that they're willing to trade. Oh, yes. Yeah. So if these, but the these deals were, were, you know, close. We probably would already know they're close and maybe even done by now. So I don't blame, you know, Shuffle Day office. They're not a, they're not a market where they can afford to offload players for less than a hundred cents on the dollar. They, they draft the develop, they make really astute trades. They were, you know, might be exactly a blue lever. All of what he was in the New Jersey Devils, he always, you know, played his car tight.

9:23You, you rarely made a move on what he did. It was on a stoop one. You kind of, you know, realize what he was doing. And I think that the benefit is that way too, because they just can't afford to lose a lot of talent. It's not like they can load up every July first. You know, they're looking for a gold tender who can come in and start and play at a certain level as part of the deal based on what we know. That's, you know, that's a matter of taste. Who do they like as an option? But I don't know how big the, I don't know how big the pool of tight teams that would satisfy what Winnipeg wants is. And I'll honestly, I think the trade will get more for Larkin than Winnipeg for Halibuck. Yeah, that was one of my, our questions early, which team you think gets more in return for either one of those guys. The Ebb and T an Elks, Al, our, our rolling, they're, you know, Rick Walters who played a long time, League said the Labor Day hangover is legit. It's more of an emotional one. You come off a two very emotional games. Emmington won both of them. Now they fly out to Toronto.

10:27You know, maybe a little bit of a potential trap game, but they're playing Chad Kelly who he can throw a lot of touchdowns, but he can also throw a lot of interceptions leads to league with 12 picks and the Elks secondary. This seems to be a game where I won't be surprised when we come back on Monday and we're talking about how the Elks defense won them a game again. Yeah, they're, and Toronto is good, but they're not great, right? You know, like they're not, we wouldn't consider them to be, you know, in the top three or four teams in the league. And you're right about Kelly, turning over the ball is always a bad idea in any football game, and he does it a lot. And I do think that the, you know, the Elks are close enough here to a home playoff game and maybe even the division that they're going to give a really good effort. This is a good team, and it's a good team with not a lot of weaknesses and some areas of strength. So I mean, I think they're going to win it and, and like I think they're going to get be on a roll and get it or when they come back here and play, is it Hamilton on the 29th?

11:33Yeah, I think they're, you know, they're, I'm not going to say that they're going to be in a position where we can say, OK, they're going to win the West, but I think they're on the way to doing that. I think they're on a roll now, and they're just a better team than almost anybody they line up against right now. They played Saskatchewan and they played Montreal leading them to the, the Labor Day, and that was sort of the difficult part of their schedule. And now they're not saying it's easy to be Toronto and come back and play Hamilton, but these are not the same teams. And I think they'll do well. LTO, you surprised how good the Elks are. I mean, you've been an Elks fan for a long time. I think going into the year, there was a lot of optimism off the field and on the field at the franchise and sort of turned the corner. Are you shocked on September 18th or this good? We're talking about a Western final. I am, and I'll tell you what I'm, I'm as shocked about is there are, there are times in, in an organization's, you know, I guess, cycle of winning where they, they just have so many good players that it's, you know, if somebody gets hurt, there's just somebody really good, you know, just step in and I think that's where the Elks are right now.

12:40I remember, you know, Hugh Campbell's, Eskimos were the most famous team that I can recall, and they always had like three or four really good players who couldn't get into the lineup. And I'm not saying if like the old days where they get loan Marco Sincar to the Hamilton Tiger Cup here, but they're like they're good and they're deep. And when they have somebody, you know, injured and someone comes in, obviously that that player hasn't had as many reps, but as an athlete. And I think that goes back to her, but honestly, they're just, they've got really good athletes and they're playing in good spots. And I, like I think there's the kind of confidence we haven't seen in a decade or more from this Edmonton team, and it's fun. I'm looking forward to the game, man, I'm not dreading it. You know, how many times I, you know, where I'm, I love to see a foul. So I'm watching the game and I'm like damn, and I maybe I should know the law and you know, or whatever in the second half. Right now they have their must watch television. They're a really good football team and they're fun to watch.

13:40I'll enjoy the weekend lots of sports NFL CFL NHL. You got junior hockey back on junior football. You have a it's awesome. And enjoy it. Oh, man, best time of the year.
