Hey there everybody, I'm Jordan Hansen, host of Daybreak Devotions, simple truths for complicated times. The Hansen household got a new puppy coming up on two years ago now, so not really a puppy anymore, but I'm not really sure the dog knew her own name for the first six months because I would yell it all the time with hardly any response. I would call and call and call and still get hardly a head tilt from her. I was usually trying to keep her from danger or from getting into trouble, sometimes it was her food or a treat for her to eat. There are all sorts of reasons that I would call her name, and still she would ignore me like I was a kiosk worker in the middle of the mall that you're hoping doesn't speak to you as you walk past.

Not until she learned that I had good things in store for her, did she learn to listen and when she did, she learned her name, and now she knows to listen each time I call out to her. The Bible says in Jeremiah 3.22, My wayward children says the Lord, come back to me and I will heal your wayward hearts. Yes, we're coming, the people would reply, for you are the Lord our God. The people of Israel and Judah had spent so much time ignoring God that they hardly recognized his voice through the prophets. They ignored the warnings. They treated the prophets harshly, if not even violently. The successive generations forgot their own name and didn't realize that God had been calling out to them the entire time. Not until they'd reached rock bottom, and when that happens, the only voice calling them out of the pit is God's. He's calling out to you if you're alert, lost, confused, or held captive by sin.

He's willing to heal your heart, turn back to him, let him know you're coming. And remember, God's not the problem. He's the answer. Hey folks, thanks for listening in. We hope you enjoyed today's episode, and if you're ready for a breakthrough, join us again tomorrow for another daybreak devotional.
