Season 3 Ep.70 When God Moves Kings

0:00Hey there, everybody, I'm Jordan Hansen, host of Daybreak Devotions, Simple Truths for Complicated Times. It's not been that often in my life that I've had crystal clear direction from God about a specific topic or situation. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little put out that a pagan king was able to hear from the Lord a very specific message, but that's the thing. We can't begin to assume we can understand all of God's ways. He does what He wants, when He wants, and how He wants. I just need to be willing to move when He says jump. The Bible says in Ezra 1-2, this is what King Cyrus of Persia says, the Lord, the God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth.

1:01He has appointed me to build him a temple at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. King Cyrus of Persia had defeated the Babylonians, and thus inherited a large number of exiled Jews. It's crazy to think that a monarch at that time would willingly give up such a large number of subjects as well as supply them with materials and give them back their precious belongings. Let me know if you know of any other conquering king to do such a thing. But that's how God works. He takes the things that we think we understand, and he turns them on their heads. Cyrus probably should not have let random subjects go, probably should not have dipped into his vast fortune and returned such precious objects to the people leaving, but he did. Why? Because God said so. And if God says it, it will happen one way or another. And remember, God's not the problem. He's the answer. Hey folks, thanks for listening in.
