Season 3 Ep.60 God Is Still the Answer

0:00Hey there everybody, I'm Jordan Hansen, host of Daybreak Devotions, Simple Truths for Complicated Times. In case you're not aware, we live in a fallen creation. An original sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve. It didn't just stop once they left the Garden of Eden. It went with them. Our world has been in a state of degradation ever since then. People always ask the question, why do bad things happen to good people? Well, I always wonder why they don't ask, why do bad things happen at all? It's because this world is fallen. Jesus told His disciples that we would have trials in this life, and I know plenty of people that have faced hard moments in their lives.

1:01There are people that have faced truly horrific circumstances. Normally, when things like that happen, people look for a reason. They want to understand. They want to blame. It can't possibly be just the way things are. The Bible says in 2 Kings 633, while Elisha was still saying this, the messenger arrived, and the king said, all this misery is from the Lord, why should I wait for the Lord any longer? If you had read 2 Kings 6, you know that things were bad in Israel. They were really bad. The capital city of Samaria was under siege, and people were starving. They were resorting to cannibalism at one point, and the king was horrified. He lashed out in Elisha and at God as if it was personally their fault. It couldn't possibly be the result of Israel breaking their covenant with God and wantonly

2:03worshipping idols. Well, here's the fun part. If you keep reading into the next chapter, God goes ahead and rescues the city despite their disobedience as a nation. Things are turned around in less than a day, simply because God said it would happen that way. This would be a perfect time for Israel to remember that God's not the problem. He's the answer.
