Seahawks Re-sign Safety A.J. Finley

0:00On March 12, the Seattle Seahawks kicked off the 2026 league year by resigning safety, AJ Finley. After missing all of last season on injured reserve, the former Ole Miss standout agreed to a new deal with the team, though details weren't shared. Yet, Finley went undrafted out of college in 2023 and first joined the Los Angeles Chargers. He appeared in 22 games there, mostly on special teams, before getting waved in November and scooped up by Seattle. With the Seahawks, he suited up for four games, again handling nearly all special teams duties. His season ended early last August during the team's football fan fest at Lumen Field. Finley entered his knee while breaking up a pass and had to be helped off the field, dashing hopes for a bigger role. Now healthy, Finley steps into an opening with Kobe Bryant heading to the Chicago Bears. Seattle's tweaking at secondary, and this could position him as a key backup safety. Keeping Finley around adds depth and familiarity to the defensive backfield as the Seahawks build for the new year.
