It’s simply amazing what people will do to avoid the word Christmas. I recently saw a Christmas card with a happy baby and it said “Baby’s first holiday!” My wife doesn’t put up with stores and catalogs that won’t say the word Christmas. She showed me a recent letter to a catalog store, “I just received your catalog of lovely gifts for holiday 2024. Which holiday would that be? New Year’s? Valentine’s Day? July 4? Labor Day? Thanksgiving? The decorations look very much like Christmas, with the miniature Christmas tree on one page, a Christmas tree cookie, a couple of baskets, holly, ribbons, Christmas colors of red and green throughout. Yes, very much like Christmas. You know very well that you want to capitalize on the Christmas trade, but you refuse to say the word Christmas. Well, I won’t be buying anything from you.”
