It's March 13th. Here's your Sydney news in two minutes. Radio host Kyle Sandelands has brought on a top legal team just days before a key Tuesday deadline to fix an alleged breach of his contract. He hired Philip Bancardo and Scott Robertson, senior counsel, the same lawyers who helped fill in host Antoinette Latouf when her unlawful termination, case against the ABC for $70,000. Sandelands got suspended last week by his employer, Australian Radio Network, for serious misconduct. That's dim from him berating co-host Jackie Elhenderson during their February 20th show on KIISFM, to the point she walked off air and refused to return. ARN then ended Henderson's contract, which had nine years left on a 10-year, $200 million deal running through 2034. Sources say she told the company through lawyers she could no longer work with Sandelands. To remedy the issue and keep his job, Sandelands needs to convince Henderson to come back to the Kyle and Jackie Elhenderson show.
Insiders close to the pair say they're talking again and want to move past the feud, blaming ARN for using the drama to cut costs. ARN is holding firm on its statement to the stock exchange and not commenting further. If they fire Sandelands next week, they could face lawsuits from both him and Henderson over the terminations.
