The mix-up started when a new employee at the theater got a call from Stewart's assistant. They wanted to book the place for the same night to watch the movie, too. The staffer politely said no, since Mara had it reserved and even warned her she might hear from Martha directly. Mara's mom, who knows Stewart, soon got an email from the lifestyle icon herself. Stewart asked nicely if she and her friend could join the screening, promising to sit quietly in the back row. It was all very polite and unexpected. Mara loved the idea and said yes right away. Stewart showed up with her banker friend and they enjoyed the movie together without any fuss. Mara told the whole tale on late night with Seth Meyers this week.
