Sam Docherty comments on former Carlton list boss' move to rival club

Do not bring your toxic tips anywhere near me in my team. It has been a remarkable final series so far, though, hasn't it? Yeah, it has been. And last week was a good example of that. The hawk's getting over free. Oh, not many tip that. I actually did tip that one. So I got that one right, which is good. But I did say that I was very worried about the weather and inevitably that was one of the major differences. But it's been a great final series so far. The twist and turns from last week compared to a really close wild card games and then a couple of really big upsets last week in the in the call time final. Yeah, just incredible. There's nobody tips them. And if you did tip them, you were you were mad swans fan, but they they were outstanding and showed what a team that buys in together can do in one moment of everyone kind of on the same page and playing with the same

1:02intensity and buying into sort of defense and contestable. It was incredible. Incredible to watch that one. Okay, so let's look at the two matches. So we've got free on the cats too long going over there, obviously. How much does this warfy time and the fact they've got this big home game playing to it and also the age of players like Patrick Dangerfield who had the most amazing game but now has to back it up again and on the other side of the country. Yeah, there's a few pieces in the time that if you go to the free outside, there's obviously the the hype of their season and being the minor premiers and for most of the year were locked. It was a further last, felt like the third third of the season. They were locked at the top of the ladder and kind of a sitting duck in many ways trying to manage their way through the end of the season without kind of messing with their form too much and then having a week off and then being soundly beaten and out performed by a horse on last week. There'd be some nerves on their side to to go from where they were during the year. They haven't performed in finals that last last year and then lost again this year. There's

2:03a bit of pressure on them to have that home game. It's obviously an advantage to have a team traveling as you said. There's a couple of the older players who belong but and a couple players that are slightly injured for long in terms of camera and coming back and kind of brewing looked a bit injured last week. There's a little bit going for them on that side but they're gelong with so impressive last week against the Blues in terms of carlin' a really informed team and gelong just absolutely dismantled them at the G in all facets of the game and put in a really impressive performance. Sometimes we do overrate the team that wins and really drive down the teams that lose in the qualifying finals but I'm going to stay away from them. You're like the kisser. The Lions and Adelaide. This is so interesting because I guess most people would you still just expect the Lions to get the job done there I mean this happened to the Lions last season as well. They went on to win the flag. Yeah I think for the last three seasons they've gone the long way round and the end.

3:04Yeah they were very there's the two sides to Sydney game. The Brisbane last week we just spoke about one side and how impressive Sydney were with the other side of how poor Brisbane were defensively. If they rock up like that again then they'll get beaten but this is probably the trust of Brisbane over the last few years they have done this route. They've lost early and performed poorly in that first game and then won the rest of their games and end up the premiers in the league. I'm tipping it that way. There is the weather in Brisbane at the moment so that potentially might be ranger in the game. If that happens that probably does lean to Adelaide strength a little bit more. I think if it's dry then Brisbane's ball movement will probably be too strong for the crows but if there's a bit of weather and it turns into a scrappy affair that's where Adelaide thrives. They're one of the best contestant teams in the competition. They're the best pressure team in the competition and their defense is really strong so it does probably put it a bit more of a level playing field if the weather comes in but it's probably and whether it's this is rightful trust. I just I feel like Brisbane will rock up and they get a week of really

4:09having honest conversations and making sure that they're games in order. You can't fault it from here on out. Just a couple of little broader football questions. So, we're trying to take in Carlton's list boss. Is this the guy who built the current Carlton list? Yeah, through large part. Steve's piece of learning was there for a while and then Nick Austin took over. We've been through for maybe four or five years ago. I'm not exactly sure when it took over but yeah, got moved on when Voss he got moved on this year and then Richmond had picked him up and obviously Richmond owned one of those early picks and there's the story around Carlton matching Cody Walker but I did listen to him the other day in one of the media rounds he was doing and he spoke about with the new rules that the AFLs brought in teams that are bidding on these players early. Have to have a legitimate ranking that that's how good they are because there's a chance that a team will say no because the price of that pick just becomes too heavy. I don't think that'll happen with the Blues. I think they're pretty steadfast and making sure Cody gets to the club but it was an

5:12interesting. So change from the AFL this year in terms of it costs a hell of a lot more to get these guys at the top than it once was. So there's the chance that one of the one of the teams bid on a player just trying to drive the price up for another team and then they get stuck with them so it's going to be an interesting year to watch the draft and how all those points and picks and I enjoy my numbers but it still has made it confusing for me.
