Salvador Dali Museum Expansion: New Wing & Galleries

0:00It's March 4th in Tampa Bay, let's get into the news. The Salvador Dolly Museum in St. Petersburg is planning a $65 million expansion set to open in 2028. This new 35,000 square foot addition will go on the south side of the current building creating more space for visitors. It will feature flexible gatherings designed for interactive shows that mix art with technology, plus a learning center for kids in kindergarten. Through 12th grade and adult learners, along with spots for community gatherings, much of the funding comes from tourist taxes through the visit St. Pete Clearwater Program. The museum has been a huge draw since opening in a warehouse back in 1982, pulling in more than 10 million visitors and ranking as a top spot in Pinellas County. Local leaders call it a key part of the area's cultural scene and worldwide appeal. The project is in familiar hands with the Beck Group handling design and construction, just like they did for the existing building in 2000.
