The New Orleans Saints made a smart move in free agency by signing Linebacker Kate and Ellis to a three-year deal worth $33 million. Including 23 million guaranteed. This comes right after they lost veteran Demario Davis to the New York Jets. Ellis actually started his NFL career with the Saints as a seventh-round pick in the 2019 draft. Ellis spent his early years in New Orleans with limited defensive snaps, but he broke out in 2022 with seven sacks, ten, quarterback hits, and 78 tackles. After that, he moved to the Atlanta Falcons where he built a strong resume over three seasons. Fans and analysts see this as a solid replacement, even if Ellis lacks Davis' veteran instincts and leadership. At 28 years old, he's six years younger, with less wear and tear, and he's signing for about the same average money Davis got in New York.
