I have no doubt that polls would show that if we had a choice that the American people would rather go to war with allies than without allies. However, we have to keep in mind that first of all, that option is not always going to be available. And second, and this is a really important point that I think is almost universally missed in this country's foreign policy discussions. American allies have a pretty limited ability to help the U.S. military carry out operations. There's simply not up to snuff technologically. In fact, I was actually stunned to read in a Wall Street Journal article. I believe it was late last week that for example, the U.S. military doesn't record
