S5E3 'Donation Match-Making for Charities & Businesses', with Cathy Benwell π
About this episode
Charities with too little, on the lookout for stock. Business with too much, on the lookout to offload.
What if a platform existed to connect the two together?
Fulfilling Charities' need for items, without having to spend their funding.
Giving businesses the opportunity not only to offload unwanted items without paying for removal fees, but also the opportunity to contribute to a local cause.
Thankfully, that's exactly what Cathy Benwell went ahead and created!
Founder of 'A Good Thing', Cathy's mission is to provide an exchange-economy between the third sector and private enterprise.
Since its inception, 'A Good Thing' has saved charities over Β£600,000, and they are projected to double that this year!
As the founder of such a brilliant, win-win platform, we were delighted to sit down with Cathy to talk about:
π° Donation stories about Easter Eggs, theatre sets, shaving kids, and even bricks for a kitchen!
π¦ΈββοΈ How 'A Good Thing' saves charities from unnecessary costs
π Cathy's decision to run a freemium model
π€ The different reasons why businesses choose to partner with 'A Good Thing'
π₯The power of local, social impact
... and much more! β¨
This was a wonderful and heartening episode, showing us the power which creative thinking can bring to the social sector. We hope you enjoy it as much we did π
