I was surprised to learn that only 29% of employees believe their leaders are effective at human leadership. This made me wonder what exactly human leadership is. According to Gartner human leaders need to be authentic, empathetic, and adaptive.

[00:00:01] - According to Gartner, there are three key traits that form human leadership: authenticity, empathy and adaptivity. Authenticity is one of the buzzwords that has seen a lot of attention over the last five years. 

[00:08:56] -  According to Microsoft Research, nearly 50% of employees are burned out at work and 53% of managers are also reporting that they are also burned out. As a leader, it's important to practice empathy and self-empathy.

[00:13:31] - Gartner says human leaders need adaptivity. They must enable flexibility and support that fits team members' unique needs. They need to understand each person's unique needs and adjust their leadership style to the situation and what the individual wants. According to Gartner, introverts need different environments than Extroverts.

[00:16:48] - Authenticity, empathy and adaptivity are good traits of human leaders, but only 29% of managers seem to have these traits. Gartner article on human leadership also discussed some of the thoughts managers are having that are getting in the way. Some managers are skeptical about big changes announced now.
