Ryan Kelly Retires: Vikings Seek New Center

0:00For the NFL, it's March 6th. Here's what's happening. Ryan Kelly, the Minnesota Viking Center, announced his retirement on Friday at age 32 after 10 seasons in the NFL. The Ohio native started his career with the Indianapolis Colt, who drafted him in the first round out of Alabama back in 2016. He spent 8 years there, earning 4 pro bull nods and a second team all pro-honor in 2020. Last spring, the Viking signed Kelly as a free agent to strengthen their offensive line. But injuries derailed his season as he dealt with multiple concussions and missed nine games. He suffered two concussions early, between weeks 2 and 4, sitting out nearly two months for expert evaluations nationwide. Despite more than five documented concussions in his career, he returned only to get hit with another in week 16 that ended his year. Now the Vikings need a new center.
