Hello the internet and welcome to season 454 episode 5 of Dernally's I Guys!
Love production of I Heart Radio is a podcast where we take a deep dive into American shared consciousness through the day's news. We also have a new non-news history version of TDC dropping each Monday morning called the iconograph where we do a deep dive into the zikas through the lens of a different icon. We have recently done Madonna Chaconi aka you might just know her as Madonna. Me and her were on a first and last name base. A Garfield and we got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming up. We also just reram the Dolly part and episode lots of good stuff down the pike there. Those are the episodes that drop on Monday with a different logo and icon in the title. But right here right now it is Friday September 4th, 2026. Fucking National Wildlife Day. College Colors Day, Shout Out The Blue and Gold, the UCLA. It's National Keonti Day. Have that with your Fava beans while you eat somebody's face off National Food Bank Day, National Macadamie in that day.
Alright. Yeah. I think I like all those things. Yeah. Yeah. Please don't eat food bank because September 4th, she is not easy out there. No, no. Still lines around the block. And you know, Democrats Republicans still have you trouble grasping that very simple concept that things are falling apart pretty rapidly around them despite what the stock market is saying. Yeah. It's not going to be good. It's not going to be good. So that's what I'm focused on. Yeah. Hey, if it's a K-shaped economy, glad I'm on that top part of the K. The top part of the K high fudge. Yeah. K-shaped economy. Just doing ketamine and ignoring reality all around me. So yeah. K-shaped K fuel. My name is Jack O'Brien. A.K. flapping around like a jack and that one courtesy of Don't ask me on the discord. So dope. It's only place I ask people to separate the art from the artist. Yeah. Just crystal is M&M impression. Tough one. That's tough. That's tough one. That's tough one man.
It's tough one man. It's so good. I don't know if you want to say that out loud. Ah, that one's. Yeah, that's pretty good. The art from the predator. I'll lose Annie Hall, but come on. Give me crystal is M&M impression that he did while driving and then never again. I got a couple crystal is stories. Oh, sorry. Is this comic unleashed? I just got one quick crystal is story. That's not even my story. But years ago before he got canceled, you know John Milstein, either of you funny comedy guy. Yeah. Anyway, great guy. I'm sorry that he was like in the parking lot of 7-Eleven or something. And this is before crystal. It was canceled, but he was famous at the time. And he saw crystal. It just like chug a big gulp in his car. Unroll roll down his window. Put his arm out. Just drop the drop the empty big bulb litter and then drive away.
It's one thing to be a predator, but to just like blatantly litter in front of random people. Like a cartoon character. Yeah. Movie band. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Fuck. It's thrilled to be joined as always by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray. It's Miles Gray. Hey, hey. Dean Kane is kind of Japanese. Dean Kane is kind of Japanese. I really think so. Shut up. Arch cam cam. Because yeah, we're talking about the MAGA shark tank show that's going to be unveiled with Nicki Minaj, just one of the judges hosted by Dean Kane who I was saying. And he's kind of Japanese. Fame. This kind of is. He is kind of Jeff. He's one of my kind of Japanese brother and he is half Japanese. Is that right? I think he's a quarter. A quarter. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Miles were thrilled to be joined in. Our third seat by a whole areas comedian and actor. You've seen. I do have to keep mentioning this because it's one of my favorite pieces of media in the world in the classic insider trading. Brian's hack courtroom sketch from I think you should leave. Thank God. You've seen him performing standup on stages and televisions across the land on comics unleashed. No, I'm going to. Yes. I'm not. You're supposed to be a wonderful show podcast, but outside. It's Andrew Mishon. Andrew. Thank you guys for having me. Oh, he's honored to be here. You always bring such fun energy. Yeah. Beautiful day. Beautiful day to have to be here with you all. Thank you. Thank you. I did. Ever since we were talking about chickens when we first started before we started recording. I've had the thought. This is gross. But the thought went into my head. It's probably in the heads of anybody who listened to the cold open, assuming that the cold open has just some promise got edited down to 48 seconds of chicken stuff.
What about chicken come? We have the chicken eggs. Right. Oh my God. Like that. It's the last piece of, we talk chicken milk. Oh boy. You're talking about chum, right? Chicken go. Yeah. Yeah. You haven't had chum? You haven't fried up in your scrambled eggs? No, it's like a sauce. I mean, it's a sauce. I'm actually vegan, but I do do chum because they're pleasurable. They enjoy coming. So it's actually a good chum sauce. Yeah. I put chum sauce on my vegan eggs and yeah, all sorts of stuff like that. Wow. I don't even know. When chicken's mate, it's called the cloacal kiss. Oh, cloacal. They got cloacas. Wow. And it said it's real quick, bro. Yeah. They just said they get it done. No, stroke game from the boy chickens. All right. Well, I apologize for that. Andrew, we're thrilled to have you here. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First we're going to have listeners a couple of things. We're talking about today.
We're going to keep it relatively. Besides, come. We're going to talk about a new danger of AI, which is letting it plan your hike. That's apparently not a good. That is the sort of thing that I feel like a lot of people, like I've heard people be like, yeah, we like planned this. We planned a trip with AI. So just a call, just a quick note on that. We're going to talk about the new trend in marketing, which is fake heists or real heists that seem fake. I don't know. Now we're going to look at the acting work of Gal Gadot. I have not been keeping up for some reason. I guess I haven't seen the murderer on the Nile. I didn't see the Snow White movie. The woke Snow White. Do you wonder what? I saw a Wonder Woman. That one bordered on Terminator to me where it was like, there's something because she's supposed to be sort of alien from a different man.
It was like the acting being bad was fine for me. In the same way that Shorthand Eggers acting in the Terminator, you're like, well, I'm not taken out of it by the roboticness of him. A new movie dropped and people are being really mean to Gal Gadot in terms of her performance. It's called The Runner. Yeah. And it's literally just somebody going on a jog and then the movie taken happens to them essentially. Yeah, if you love bad movies, this is the right. You've been watching the movie. Yeah, I'm kind of impressed by your acting. I had to. I had to. Because every like the immediate response is like, this is one of the lowest like tomato scores you've seen from the credits. Like score and then, but then you get these like counter articles that are coming up to like despite the bad, the criticisms, the runner is skyrocketing up the prime charts. And I'm like, wow, your publicist is working over time for that. Because I think viewers is morbidly curious at this point.
Hasbro. It's like, yeah, this is actually. Oh, it was more than that film. It's the most moral film on prime. That's right. Yeah. So we'll talk about that. Before we get to any of that, Andrew, we do like to ask our guest, what is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are? Well, I just yesterday I searched how long after dental surgery can my dogs do stuff? Because both my dogs are having dental surgery on Saturday. It's elective. They're just losing the teeth weight. And I just, it's just, you know, it's summer. It's summer all the time in Southern California. It's always been a season. And they, you know, they're a little long in the tooth or maybe heavy in the tooth. And yeah, so we're getting rid of some of their teeth for aesthetic reasons. And I wanted to go camping the next day. Like my girlfriends, like, oh, we should go camping. It's Labor Day weekend. La la la. And I was like, I don't know if the dogs are going to be okay. Like 24 hours after surgery to be in the woods.
And it turns out they're not. So we're going to have a couple of days at home. They're going to be chilling. And come Wednesday, though, they're going to be looking real good. For a second, I was like, you're referring to like your friends who are having to oral surgery. My dog is so my dog can go, come on, come on. Yeah, I mean, you know, I'm trying to hang out with my boys, you know. I actually just did have like a boys weekend. I went to a bachelor party last weekend for the first time in a long time. It was fun. But it was a bachelor party for my friend who is in an open relationship. And I'm like, we ain't mourning anything about it. Yeah, good. You're good, dude. Yeah, I'm like, we had a great time. Yeah, it's like he could sleep with someone that weekend. And we wouldn't have to keep it a secret. Like he's good. Yeah, yeah. What city did you go to? Was it a... It was a Denver. That's why I kind of was like, we all had to shovel pretty far and spend money. And I'm like, but you're going to be a bachelor forever. Yeah. You're like, I mean, I'm going to go in a thing that we have to hold. Exactly. Yeah, it's like going to a funeral. We're going to the funeral for someone in more dollars or something.
It just didn't really add up. But we had a fun time. We had a fun time. Yeah. I like the idea that you make all your friends get veneers. Just... Yeah, if you do. I mean, we want to match, you know, like give some boys. Look, I mean, when we're out on the town and we're smiling at chicks, we want to all look the same. Yeah. We all want to look like one big twos. One big smile. One white line across our crew. Yeah. Yeah. Like, I guess that is technically what Lauren Michaels is like, right? He just... Does he make everyone get veneers? He got weird teeth. I know that he is like investing in your career. He's like, I know him funny. That's so funny. And yeah, this is one of the great Jamie Loftus' obsessions. It's just like tracking any time an SNL performer gets veneers. I know. It's all on there. It's fun. You're in his orbit. You're good. Yeah. That's so funny. Like, to the point, because like... I think Amy Polar is one of the first people who's like, yeah, he was like, I'll pay for them.
Yeah. I'll get that mouth fixed, girl. Yeah. This ain't upright citizens brigade show with that Comedy Central. What the hell failed? Not what I want it to. Yeah. Let me put it that way. I know. You've got one. Yeah, one note, Amy. Your teeth. Yeah. Can you change them? Yeah. How funny would it be if instead he had done the exact same thing but with breast implants for the entire last 50 years? Yeah. Is everyone on that set? Oh, wait. I have a year to go. Second year. What's the deal? It's just happening every time. That was mad TV, probably. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was... Yeah. Famously, the first question he asked people is, how do you feel about wigs? Yeah. Yeah. You know you got it. Oh, really? And then like two years later, if he's like, how do you feel about your teeth? That's, you're like, oh shit. Funny. I guess... I just feel like Christ. Once. No, that's just my question from John Deere. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What is something you think is underrated? Hmm. Hmm.
Apparently, you know, I've been journaling a little bit lately. Yeah. And yeah, I mean, it's like my girlfriend told me to do it and it's been nice. I think, you know, it's so easy to... I don't know, be sucked into the digital world and I don't know. I think, I mean, I go to therapy and stuff like that and that's obviously helpful. But I don't know. I feel like it's so rare that you put pen to paper, you know, unless you're specifically trying to. I feel like you get something out of... And it doesn't even have to be journaling, I don't know, just putting pen to paper is something that I feel you lose in life. Right. And it's nice to do a little bit of that. Yeah. What do you... When you journal, are you like reflecting on your own emotions? Did it recap a few days? Yeah, a little bit of that. It's like a gratitude journal that I am doing. So it's kind of like starting every day and ending every day with like things that I'm grateful for. And that kind of is a good perspective shift in terms of just like you get so stuck in your right set ways. And you know, you can feel dissatisfied with certain aspects of your life, but when you also recognize what you're thankful for, that's helpful. And then in the back, there's space for just like free style journaling if you want to
talk about things. The gratitude. Oh, so you read that piece about Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, how they just take every day. That's how we stay around. They were all grateful for them and we're so good for them. Number one on my gratitude list. Yeah. Number two on Sanchez. Sometimes it switches. Sometimes Lauren gets the top spot. I've got to say. I know we're just like that. And that's what's beautiful about gratitude. You know, it can it can have in flow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you compare that to Grand Theft Auto 6 though dog. Like that's good. That's good. That's good. That's good. You just see that tweet that was like, there was like a community note on the tweet where they were like, oh, the driving in this game is so bad. Everyone is stuck at this light. This green light because the car is in the wrong lane turning left. And then there was a community note on Twitter that was like, oh no, this happened all the time in Miami. Like this is not like you are exactly right. Yeah. I thought at this morning, it really made me laugh. That is, are there cities where, because LA famously, you get two cars after the late
turns. Yeah. You get two cars going three if it's in a hurry. After a red light. Yeah. If you're turning left three, wow. Well, we have three. Yeah. I don't give a fuck. I'm a two and I get real mad if somebody stops at one. Yeah. How often do we do this? Fucking go. You fucking are you serious? My kids are like, what? I'm like, they didn't break the law. They break the law. Like we all agree that they're supposed to. But I do feel like the two cars going at a red light left turn signal is what's keeping LA afloat. You know, like if we lose that, it's all shutting down. The whole, the city would not work. Well, because in the back, New York, they go early. That's the thing where that's where. When it turns, they just, yeah, it's called the expert left or the New York left. I've heard it both ways. But it's a legal for sure, right? Like Miami just like doesn't have one. I don't know if the kids burn left is illegal. It's just dangerous. You know, because like people just gun it to hit that left turn before people actually
end up crossing into the intersection. Right. Yeah. I'm familiar with the move. I just did it for the first time with my wife and child in the car. And dude, I know you went to Pittsburgh. Dude, her majesty was like, she's like, whoa. She was like, she got turned on. She got turned on. She was low-key turned on. She was like, she jokingly said she goes, I don't know I was with a man. I don't know we were living our life a quarter mile at a time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. And then she said, we're going to promenny, brothers. Yeah. Yeah. She just immediately handed you. Yeah. Yeah. You can take my pink slip. You win. There you go. Hey, we going up there? All right. And we are. Yeah. Come on, Miles. Andrew, what is something you think's overrated? Sorry. Let me, I have this written down. In your journal. No, I just, Why don't you just read your journal to us? Yeah. Let's do that. What's like the most bummer page on your journal? No, this fits.
Okay, this fits actually. I think valet is overrated. Okay. I don't need some young gun man handling my car without me, you know, I seem like we I'm not, look, I'm not a cook, you know, I don't like to see another man drive my car. Yeah. Some of you other people out there, you seem to really be in the scene and you look driving your car. That's crazy, bro. You you paying for another man. I know. I know. That's crazy, bro. How much did you pay? How much did you pay? I know. I toss some keys and then I turn around and get the passenger side. And start jacking off. Yeah, parallel park. Do whatever you want. Do it. Go go nuts. Jesus Christ man, what are you doing in here? Sorry, sorry. I'll be quiet. I give you a give me keys and then I hide in the back under a coat. Jesus. But no, I mean, give me a wide open parking lot any day. I don't need. I think that's when like I as someone who grew up in LA like I hate when I think it's like, dude, this place is in such a fucked up dense like congested area.
Like you might have to valley in order to not walk 20 minutes and I end up not wanting to go to places like that. Totally. And in situations like that where there's no other option, it's like a private garage, I understand, but I hate when a normal parking lot gets turned into valley. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm like, no, this is much worse. I don't want to deal with this every time I park. They're like, wait, you're just parking it right there. I know. I get all. Yeah. And they take all the prime spots. It's like they get rid of all the good spots you could normally have and instead it's like a valley only. I don't like valley. So you go into a valley like a restaurant that has valley parking, you turn in around and go going out and find your own spot on the street. Yeah, street parking. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The first thing I do is I have to like when I'm like a quarter mile out from the destination, that's when I start scanning for spots. I'm like, because you live live a quarter mile a time. Exactly. I'm a starlier. That's right. That's hand-review. That's my guy, bro. So I know we're family, bro. We're family. We're in a tank top. Ripwing arms. I've got a suit on. I've got a corona. Fake muscle suit on.
You're so mad that people are saying you look like mooky bets. Yeah. I'm like, fuck God. And he's him. It, man. I'm going for fucking our boy. What are you? Uh-huh. Geno Toretto. Don? Dom Toretto. Dom Toretto. F***. Mooky Toretto. Toretto. I'm sorry. I know Toretto. I'm sorry. Tyson Toretto. Right? Is that his name? I don't know what it was. Yeah. I'm going for Mooky Toretto. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and talk about why you shouldn't use AI to plan hikes. We'll be right back. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and health captive for nine months. I survived. And I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart. And these are the survivor files. I just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up.
Don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up without a doubt he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. They're stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the survivor files with Elizabeth Smart on the iHeartRadio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I choose option B. I'm Julie Beniero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita. On the I Heart radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. If you're a bookshelf and you're for you page are equally important to your personality, welcome home. This is Pro's Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought daughters, pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island deserve the same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having. I'm gonna have to look up this story. I'm obsessed.
From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling characters and that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place. Listen to Pro's Society on the I Heart radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. See you between the pages. By age of rather than or so, at least 70% have a phone. Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in. I'm Dr. Joy and this is therapy for black girls. We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now. So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological chaos, I mean all this seems off. We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
They're belonging. You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted. And then they're fitting in. fitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection. Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers sitting down with therapists, care gains on black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage. You don't have more shorts so you can't do flips. You have on the dress you have across your legs. That's the range of this run from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home. You have to get off her device. But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adult in the life to miss out on. This has been our surviving middle school run brought to you by the people who's been their careers thinking about exactly this. I'm Dr. Joy. Listen to therapy for black girls on the I Heart Radio app Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Self-care September is here which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means. Yes, self-care can be a long walk. It can be an everything shower. It can be putting your phone on do not disturb.
But sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff. And understanding your patterns, your boundaries. Finally figuring out why you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again. I'm Gemma Speg, the host of the psychology of your 20s podcast. And each week we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s. From relationships and friendships to money, anxiety, confidence, attachment. Just becoming more comfortable with who you are. Unlike the quarter life crisis which is depicted as the collapse, the quarter life reinvention is the expansion and in court of something when we develop the ability to be happy by ourselves. Nobody else can take that from you. So this self-care September don't just take care of yourself. Get to know yourself as well. Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the iHot Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And it sounds like you were planning an outdoor excursion.
Yeah, yeah. And potentially did use AI for the entire thing. Yeah. What do I, what do I pack? No, I just every day I basically just use AI and I just type in what do I do today? And what do I write in my journal this? Yeah, I take care of your journaling for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I've never been there. I never will. But anyway, what would it do wrong this week? Oh, man. I think the one thing that's so consistent about AI, like across the board is like it's really enabling people to not fucking use their brains at all. Like for the most simple things like our eyes could even like solve for us or just asking another person. There's like even a few small studies that have been pointing to like this exact thing that like people who are like really over like using a ton of large language models or chatbots and things. It's like diminishing their critical thinking skills and it's also affecting their memory because like they're just the brain is just not even you're just like.
Let me type the thing into that give me the answer. So I did the least yet been have you ever like had somebody be like yeah and this was actually I just made this with AI and been like I'm really impressed with like it's always just like yeah like it seems like you know kind of half-assed and like you just sort of pushed it through like it's always a surface level thing where it's like oh slide show and it's like not. That's not really thought put into it yeah just no yeah so this latest story about some amateur hikers that used AI to plan their hike up one of the highest peaks in California Mount Shasta ends in just such a predictable way here's the local and not depressing it could have ended it a worse no no no no one no one. Yeah, it's a principle yet actually one right victory they submitted the mountain in record time action. It's happened Monday three men from Roosevelt told the CISQ County Sheriff's Department that they used Google Gemini to choose the route and decide what to bring essentially what to pack for the trip.
But the hikers didn't have enough food water or emergency gear that's because they were expecting an eight hour climb and said it took them 16 hours to reach top then they got lost on their way down one hiker injured his knee bottom line here they had to be rescued on the mountain. Cool yeah they yeah they do an interview with like the sheriff who had to rescue them he's like yeah the AI just kind of downplayed the whole scenario told them you don't need a lot of food or water yeah I mean any cursory search like I get that these people think that like oh just use Gemini because it's it got us through college or whatever but even if you just googled it right you'd find out. You'd find all these things written by people who are like maybe it's like read it on like mountaineering subreddits or just even like the beginners guide to mount shasta that's put out there by people like that like live near the mountain they're all saying like dude if you're experienced you could probably get up there pretty quickly but it's like plan for like maybe two days and that makes about the right sense if they got up in 16 hours then yeah but it's also crazy to me because eight hours is not a small hike like it's not like it was a small hike and it turned into a
long hike it was a pretty long hike and it turned into an extremely long hike like you think they would have been more prepared even undertaking an eight hour hike period or yeah if it goes if if Gemini saying it's going to be eight hours to summit mount shasta and you're an hour eight of your hike and your half way up you probably go just based on what we took here I don't know if we're going to have enough shit on us to get up there and come back down in time but to be fair maybe this is Mount Shasta's fault and maybe if they had Wi-Fi on the mountain they could have geminied their way out of it I think that's really who's to blame here our ten or a service our ten our Gemini you screwed us now what keep on bro it's fine man don't let the haters get you down that's a great question and it's your adventure so I think keep keep on keep on forging ahead like tonight even have enough food or water is just so but like that's it that's the thing is that they they're like how long will it take and how much food and water should we do should we you know like they ask they expect these AI
like clients to like be able to do the whole thing and tell you like everything like make a list of like okay what are all the things I need and it fucks up like most of the time we took a perfectly good like research tool in Google and turned it into something that gives you a single wrong answer and and it's and the ultimate thing is that AI is not these are not things that think they are things that predict the next word that's most like yeah yeah I'm like pulling like a average of the answers on the internet but I'll quickly getting it wrong yeah you can't ask what day of the week it is right I mean it'll get it wrong Andrew that's not one of its strengths or strawberry numbers it's not good at numbers either but because I again I don't use the technology at all but I like I don't understand why you know people I know who are smart rely on it for facts when it that's not it's strong suit right I'm sure it's useful for some things but facts is not what it does it's strong
yeah I know I agree but it's completely like degrading our sense of community too a book pre AI you'd be like you'd ask your friend your crunchy friend who hikes all the time yeah a dude I think we do sass they're like what do you what do I got to do for that or if you don't know that person you'd go to like the wherever you're getting a hiking equipment or the fucking internet or something to find out what other human beings who have done that can share their experience with you but it's I guess now just easier to be like it'll just I think in their minds they think it's combing every available answer and right right what is the best answer from all that is it just that it's presenting things in like a good format for people like it gives a list of people like that is what it is right that's what they're looking for yeah yeah I don't like to have to spend the extra three minutes sorting through the different answers to figure out which one is obviously good but it's like that's an important part of the process of thinking and doing finding information and at the skill that we are a little better at it we're better at it right now yeah yeah we were just talking about
this with the 49ers scammer the guy who like pretended to be an NFL football player for the 49ers by buying a 49ers helmet and working out on the beach with the 49ers helmet on but like that one of the big reasons he was able to do it was at one point he had like posted so much about being on the 49ers that Google's when you Googled his name Google AI was like yeah he's a widest here for the 49er like just the right answer so like that's like again it's like just this it's eliminating these like two question two follow up question searches that are just a very basic part of how we think and operate in the world and it's just like giving you one confident and completely incorrect answer yeah I like that 49ers thing it's like the AI ecosystem swallowed your vision board and yeah yeah yeah the sheriff who had to like rescue these guys was like yeah I don't know
you should like exactly what you said I was like there's like maybe ask people who've like done the hike before you know it's just like a little a little demoralized what's like it reminds you the same to have to tell you this shit like where people like they're like the one guys like oh man I use Chad GPT for like parenting advice it's like Chad GPT never raised a fucking kid in their life okay just based off of that you know that one by the way it's Sam Altman right yeah yeah yeah yeah and there was another one I remember a business insider article we read to you made me and even better parent now that like you know like we did it tells our kids I never have to talk to my kids yeah we're again like the whole part of human experience is like reaching out to other humans who have had these experiences and gaining that sort of wisdom from them also and you know that's that's all just completely out of the equation so hey man yeah it'll take you take you 15 minutes to get up shasta man bring one little bottle of water all right there's a new trend in marketing which is like somehow get a bunch of your shit stolen and then like make like kind of
gamify the process of like getting it returned I'm like not totally sure how all of this is happening but there so a few days ago the LA Times reported that one of the largest beer heists in California history happened and it was 40 thousand pounds of perhaps blue ribbon two trucks worth in total with the value of $70,000 and a purport like a fake subcontractor used fraudulent paperwork to pick up the shipment which is weird but I mean I assume based on good fellows this is the sort of thing that happens all the time but like now pBR is like really trying to turn this theft into a publicity when they posted a countdown for the thieves to return the beer no questions asked there's like a counter there's like 18 days and 44 minutes is what started out which is that not to the year pBR was founded yo okay 44 I mean it makes it makes sense I think most corporations like to handle theft in
this fun whimsical way yeah yeah what I've seen where they go come on give it back now guys yeah this so what what's are we we think in that they are this isn't a thing at all or it's just a way or for them trying to take a publicity L and trying to like well we're in the news so let's make you to think because no one's like stealing pBR because it's the best beer in the world in such high value yeah we got we recently got new information so the company CEO went on tic-tac was like we will pay 20 thousand to anyone tic-tac it's what older millennials are on Andrew yeah you don't have to take back no you definitely said tic-tac I just want to clarify you said I didn't hear that sir you said the right things sir look at tic-tac sounds better I mean I'm into it I just want to clarify so yeah on tic-tac the pBR CEO said that he'll pay up to 20 thousand dollars to anyone who provides new information that leads to the recovery of 1,602 cases of pBR
and non-alcoholic old mill walkie beer okay which some of this little beer was not it was just such a boring heist you're gonna pay 20 thousand dollars for a thing that was worth about 70 thousand okay good return for you guys yeah good return for the thieves who presumably have already sold it and they're making a shit little money off of it yeah but like why gamify this event so this has been like a thing so kit cat recently had I remember that like a heist it back in March where 40 410 thousand special edition formula one car-shaped kit cat chocolate bars were stolen right and they launched a massive marketing campaign focusing on the theft including interactive activities that allowed users to input batch codes for verification of their kit cat bars blowing into the stolen their campaign one multiple awards somehow and then a shampoo company did a similar thing
where they're like capitalizing on the theft of a truckload of anti-dandruff shampoo with the tagline yep it's that good this is it's actually kind of bizarre it feels like this weird like corporate distortion of the era we're in where it's like like they're taking theft of goods to be like it's because the product so good rather than like no people are actually trying to make a living they're like they think because they might give it to like a maybe someone has a small store who needs to use our arrows but to kind of spin all of it into like dude they're stealing everyone stealing our shit because it's so bomb okay that's why like the next thing will be like oh yeah our baby formula it's that good that CBS has to lock it up that's what's actually going on it's it's so good that's great great yeah should we be boosting trucks this seems like yeah it seems like there yeah we missing out on the truck I mean it sounds like a you know a fast and furious kind of
boogie boogie toredo is ready yeah I'm just saying I mean I don't know we should boost some trucks you know I got my girl leddy waiting okay just to pull off a fucking ice and then when you get caught you just call it a viral marketing stunt yeah yeah you just you just you just get help out yeah you just say I wonder if that's a thing like if you were a smart thief you'd be like what's a thing we could sell where the company would actually not like would try and turn it into a positive PR rather than like really I mean obviously I'm sure they're trying to actually find who stole it yeah they're still gonna try and find you and like Michael Clayton you like you die and let me make a look like a serious condition yeah yeah but hey get Michael Clayton yeah they're really Michael Clayton again yeah you're brushing your teeth and those guys come with your prime go oh Michael Clayton Clayton Clayton is this about the pBR you can have and I even drink any it's gross we're just fucked up and stole it man I'm sorry yeah the I mean they said that the pBR heist did generate a real police report but they're like weird details like
the fact of the police didn't issue a statement about the heist until more than one week after it happened and then also pBR originally posted that a truck was stolen and then company officials later said no vehicle went missing so because it's like someone's fraudulently grabbed a shipment right is what they said at the top so they had their own truck yeah but that's not what they said I mean perhaps just I mean they're making weed drinks now so like they're they're I don't know is this what you're into they're trying to like they're trying to stay relevant I remember like in 2000 like four when pBR was like oh shit dude y'all gonna pee be yeah it had it had his day yeah and then like also I felt like every like small comedy or art party in like the eastern part of Los Angeles was just have free pBR all the time like that was kind of their way to be like here if you need beer like the people who just should be pBR will just give you free beer for a thing was there anybody who thought that it tasted good like or it's it was kind of always like
malort coded to me where I was like this is bad and like that's what we like about it kind of I think it was maybe the better of the bad beers uh-huh okay what it like tasted a little better than it's not the other memory but it's like doesn't stick with you so that's fine because it's swill beer you know what I mean it's just shit you just keep constantly cracking cans open of and you know talk about how chill high school with hmm hmm hmm hmm let's take a quick break and we'll come back and we'll talk about our finest actor a gal get a waiting for Gato if your bookshelf and your for you page are equally important to your personality welcome home this is pros society the weekly podcast that's part book club part group chat for thought daughters pop culture obsessives and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island deserve the same level of discourse I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books the internet and the conversations everyone can't stop having I'm gonna have to look up this story

I kept meeting people and they were like you smiled at us not a lot of people smile around here it's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies your soul about it it can be a time where you push your limits change your mind or wake up to a new version of yourself so whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip I hope you listen to solita on the iHeartRadio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts when I was 14 years old I was kidnapped and health captive for nine months I survived and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them I'm a Elizabeth smart and these are the survivor files I just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying shut up don't say anything every week I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable I knew if he woke up without a doubt he was going to hurt me I started feeling that there was
someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming they are abducted, stocked, controlled and nearly silenced but these aren't stories about what's taken from them their stories about what it takes to make it out alive listen to the survivor files with the Elizabeth smart on the iHeart Radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts by azer rather than or so at least 70% have a phone middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in I'm dr. Joy and this is therapy for black girls we spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now so it's literally physiological and neurological air psychological chaos happening all this in time we got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust you're belonging you could think of belonging as I can be myself
and I can still be accepted and then they're fitting it fitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection then we turn the conversation toward the fathers sitting down with therapists care games on black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage you don't have more shorts so you can't do flips you have on the dress you have across your legs that's the range of this run from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home you have to get off her device but the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adult in the life to miss out on this has been our surviving middle school run brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this I'm Dr. Joy listen to therapy for black girls on the iHeartReneo app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast self-care September is here which means it's time to rethink what self-care actually means yes self-care can be a long walk it can be in everything shower it can be putting your phone on do not disturb but sometimes it's actually about sitting with the uncomfortable stuff
and understanding your patterns your boundaries finally figuring out why you keep doing things that you swore you would never do again i'm james beg the host of the psychology of your 20s podcast and each week we unpack the psychology behind the experiences that shape your 20s from relationships and friendships to money anxiety confidence attachment just becoming more comfortable with who you are unlike the quarter life crisis which is depicted as the collapse the quarter life reinvention is the expansion and fourth of something when we develop the ability to be happy by ourselves nobody else can take that from you so this self-care September don't just take care of yourself get to know yourself as well listen to the psychology of your 20s on the iHeart Radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back is that what that is that what that was waiting for good oh to have a performance in the film that doesn't suck waiting for the next gal good old movie what's that what's that viral thing like
give me the stones or something like that is that her you know i'm talking about yeah there's a viral thing where she's like i need this stone where it's like we have enough champagne to and then she like throws the champagne over where it goes fill the nile oh yeah that one's that one's good too i think this one an option pain to fill the nile yeah can you find the stones one too yeah no no no no this one's good you're putting yourself and everyone else in your danger i need you to give me the stones Pedro Pascal like his character is confused but actually that was just a genuine reaction to her actions performance is this what you're taking is this what you want i need the stones okay it's so bad i need you to give me the stones it's always it really looks like somebody be like finding out about acting for the first time you know i'm like trying it which is
i'm sure origin story just hot in israeli like what how did she become here's like a model and then she was in the she was in the fear she was like miss israel too right i yeah and then obviously had to fight in the most moral army in the world for a few years and then i don't i then i don't know how she uh she said oh it's because she you know what wow fast and furious yeah that was her debut one of the original connected yeah so we can all look we're all family guys at the end of the day it's not forget that there's something that like about the fast and furious movies like they they should just be making those once a year because it allows you to introduce whoever you want and it the level of acting is such that like you can't distinguish any like bad acting from you're just like yeah no that's not what i'm here for like right so this is this is funny you know she doing great and look i don't need to you know i'm not trying to
make this a political thing but is america ready for a guy go hmm i just don't know i and maybe we're not but it's just something to think about it's totally possible too soon yeah i don't know so there are some time she just needs to find the right role as she just needs to find the right role and we're all gonna be we're gonna have agon our faces okay to bring the chicken thing back she also did the imagined song which i do think is a great underrated moment where everybody was like you know what fuck celebrity kosher from now it was her idea right it was her idea yeah yeah she was like she opened it and was like you guys you know i just think like a lot of people are having a hard time and so like i wanted to right like wasn't there like an explainer where she was like this is my idea and that's why it's good and people like stop i mean you get a you get a pass for singing a verse in the video you don't get a pass for orchestrating yeah i mean to the point that everyone else is like damn thank god only people remember gal like yeah remember the gal gal gal Gadot uh imagine video like i couldn't now i'm
thinking about i'm like who the fuck else was in it actually they got a like a name every fucking one you got him shit this you got him taster on your body like guy kerson fucking you know and don't shit yeah john g gal gal i have a i have a name i'm crossing them off as they die the kick oh my god it's like i hit list yeah that's what i feel fair i still remember big john lennon like the the john lennon estate has to be well saris saris overman is is funny because she appeared in both she appeared in the one that made fun of it that weird output together and the original that was also ironic that crossover people forget mark ruffalo was also in that video oh you know the interesting how far we fall apart famously doesn't like jews what's up with that what's going on with that what is this what is this mark everyone's accusing
of anti-semitism what's going on yeah because i already talked about that because he's critical of the genocide so crazy but it's like so really not about i never heard him say anything bad about jews i've heard you talk about that deal i guess it's just a constant thing of comes like the bad complaining characterization of what anti-semitism is and we're just talking about this earlier this week when there was a literal kickboxing match at the Kia center in orlando where nazi versus a like a israeli guy and it was like nazi versus Jewish guy kickboxing match the guy has fucking sss bolts on him and like a people are wasting their time on like mark ruffalo yeah at the stadium where the or the adact wet yeah yeah and it's but yeah but put your put the emphasis on people who are merely advocating for children say well like mr. acho like they still keep coming after mr. acho because he's made like uh yeah i think children being killed is actually a warrant uh no matter of what context i don't like it is what it is yeah but hey jack we're just taking the
emphasis away from uh gals latest film sorry sorry so it's just a like interesting conversation of like what is her worst performance we just saw some highlights like everybody probably has their favorite but this it looks like we've got a new front runner a movie called the runner yeah and it's it's just like it's the sort of movie that somebody takes because they're like i need to stretch my acting ability you know i need to show off what i can do this is a it's like the didn't rhyme reno to do one where he's like in a box the whole time and like column feral did one where he was like on a payphone the whole time right just like really like it's just the camera and my face telling a story but she's running jack she's out there in the streets of London so yeah this is the one that like i guess Tom Cruise would do where it's like the camera in the right and these damn legs i mean quit she she you know can sell athleticism i think yeah
and so although no her running form is pretty wild it's pretty wild it's cyborgian i started watching it i'm about 40 minutes in and uh the combination made my eyes bleed uh i'll say just trying to watch it it's it's actually so bad it's good so i think there's something there we've got something yeah yeah this is why it's racing up the charts uh yeah i mean a thriller about a mom and a lawyer uh-huh who is out for her morning run when she receives a phone call informing her that her son has been abducted oh and it's it's not that simple jack she's a high powered lawyer who's about to convict a guy who's flipped on like a a crime boss uh-huh and so it turns into like nick of time basically where the the thing the guy's like you got to kill the witness or your son dies which is like no don't kill him please uh i will kill you if you do anything to my son uh and
it's just like the acting is stiff um the plot really is is really kind of all over the place and just this i don't i mean i don't run a ton but i know what running 13 miles an hour is that's not slow and like there's like a scene where like the bad guys because like the whole thing is like i want you to run so i can track your movements and no you're not doing anything silly and he's like go run over here now go run over there and it's like you're like what is it looking for in about these destinations to run to but then like when he's tracking here it says that she's running 13 miles an hour and i was like let me quick math that's like about a it's a sub five minute mile you're running that's the pace you're on very fast like yeah yeah like that's a two that's actually like when you when people talk about like the famous sub two hour marathon if you're running 13 miles an hour with a marathon's 26.2 miles you're running up there with some of the best marathon runners in the world um but that but her character is like a youth pentath elite so that's i think how they are
are like she's she's she's good at running youth movies like this movie is like speed but with the human body instead of the truck yeah it's a compelling pitch guys i don't hate the pitch i don't you like i'm i'm a screenwriter i'm driving around LA i have to slam on my brakes barely avoid hitting my third jogger of the day right and i'm like god damn why are all these people wait a second yeah what i thought was on the phone threatening them that would be yeah i bet that guy i bet that lady she had her son's glucose monitor that's why i got it and well no like there's like a whole thing which is like you had to my son's glucose monitor and you're like whoa whoa like there's like is now he's like there he's trying to drop well i'll reveal it no he's he was like i put your son into a hypoglycemic coma and now you must really like you have an hour now or he will or he will not survive and that's typical terrorism dog yeah it's got it's got a lot of weird stuff
going on for it but the the thing that i realized about her is like she's getting the Arnold shorts and eager treatment with how we take her in and her roles on camera because like we all know Arnold cannot get rid of that accent and Arnold not the best actor so we're going you know what man your name's just going to be detective john kimball yeah guy with the heavy austrian accent and we're not going to ask much and your kid has no accent either and we just like whatever we don't even need to talk about it you actually have to be a more sophisticated movie viewer to appreciate it has because you are taking the acting as part of the experience you're you're never for a moment forgetting that that is Arnold Schwarzenegger acting yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah still enjoy i mean they do reference that she might not be english because they're like yeah who how was your immigrant father and you're like oh okay so not that at least you did introduce the idea that possibly she was not born in england or whatever but it's uh good opening good opening question by the way to pretty much anyone you meet how is the immigrant father i like
yeah just kind of good way to get to know someone you know yeah learn their history you know yeah they're doing a lot i mean like a lot of close ups a lot of close up a lot of yeah i was gonna like there's that face blind painter Chuck close who like paints just like different pieces of people's faces so that because he can't like perceive the whole face and that feels to be feels like the way they're going about filming her where they like will film an eye at a time and then like her mouth because they don't want you to get the overall impression of her acting yeah some comments of the clip asked if she's act if she the character is supposed to be blind and it's actually a very good question she's doing movie blind person in some parts where she's just like kind of looking around vacant league you know that scene that they clipped out was when she's she's just found out that her son has been kidnapped but then also she realizes the kidnapper was using AI to fake her son's voice and then she's like wait what and then like
right now or I'm part of it is like wait are they gonna like is do they even have her son yeah she's just running for no reason but i will continue watching because she just got the glamour out the out the dumpster and she's on her way to court do we think that is a twist ending where she like isn't assassin like that's the the only version that i can imagine like making any sense where i like you know i have to find out that we on Monday yes that's me on Monday man when i've had it a few times the one that don't need to be prems for a podcast content is like speculate on the ending of a movie yeah that's out that nobody's out that's out and you just have it and also like everything i'm gonna have to watch it three times first times just general viewing second time for plot the third time for character development that's right that's right all right and just a final word for everybody go out there and buy your mr beast books guys this is he's important to us as a podcast mr beast wrote a book with author James Patterson
you're really i don't think i'm as dangerous yeah sorry it's yeah yeah i i'm sure he did a lot of writing you should put pen to pad uh he's he's in he's in the journal every morning just coming up with these plots it's called the most dangerous games and which it's kind of weird so that's a play on most dangerous game the hunting and killing of people and these games yeah and his show right but some it somebody who has built a media empire on endangering the lives of people is doing a play on the hunting of humans is just interesting uh anyways it's on track to be a historic bomb according to people close to the project uh pre-orders are numbering in the four digits pay fraction of what the publisher was expecting you're telling me these like gen alpha and like zoomer of kids aren't buying James Patterson books you know uh uh fucked up damn yeah the collapse
that everybody's been waiting for yeah like it's just a come too completely separate circles of a venn diagram with people who are fans of these two things and even when they collaborate the the circle still failed to overlap in any way you're like i'm still looking at two different circles man i don't know how we're gonna square this and so mr beast is uh telling people that if they buy his book they might be able to win a million dollars uh how unclear song here that's great that's great this might be you know a new chapter for him though i mean like yeah maybe and maybe in a few years there'll be some young person who's like i just found out my favorite author also makes youtube videos right only on the were the writing you know maybe they'll be like holy crap mr beast does youtube too because they just their fans are like the most dangerous games the author guy the author he also makes videos where he traps people in basements haha fucking jigsaw youtube's very own jigsaw yeah andrew such a pleasure having you yeah
