About this episode
“I wasn't instantly happy, but I knew happiness was possible" - Rose Stokes
Writer Rose Stokes joins Samantha Baines to talk break up, her parents divorce and her new engagement. Rose also recounts how she coped in the aftermath of a toxic relationship and got to a place where she is ready to say 'I do', whilst keeping realistic expectations of what a marriage really is and not buy into the damaging fairy-tale narrative. The two talk about their parents flourishing post-divorce and separation and what it is like as a child of divorce parents. Rose also explains how past relationship trauma can seep into new relationships and how she dealt with that through therapy.
