It's April 30th. You're listening to Entertainment and Celebrity News today, AI Power Pop Culture updates. I'm Cory with the story. Roger Sweet, the guy who dreamed up He-Man from Mattel, passed away Tuesday at 91 after fighting dementia. He led the design team back in the 70s and 80s, turning a simple idea into one of the biggest toy empires ever. After Mattel missed out on Star Wars toys in 1976, letting Kenner Cash and Big Sweet teamed up with Mart Taylor to pitch He-Man. He whipped up the first prototype by beefing up a big gym figure with clay, showed it to the CEO, and boom, it hit stores in 1982. That toyline exploded, spawning the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon in 1983. Set on planet Eternia, it followed Prince Adam turning into He-Man with his famous sword-yale, running for 130 episodes over two years. And hooking kids everywhere. Now the legacy lives on with a reboot movie from Amazon MGM and Mattel, dropping in theaters

June 5th. Nicholas Galatine plays He-Man, joined by Camila Mendes as Tila, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Allison Brie as Evil, and Idris Elba as Man at Arms. Sweet leaves behind his wife Marlene, but his power of grayscale creation keeps battling on for new generations.
