Rodger Brulotte: A Legendary Voice in Canadian Baseball

Canadian Baseball has lost a true legend with the passing of Roger Broulot at age 79. He was a long time French language broadcaster for the Montreal Expos. Since recently, Broulot stepped away from the booth during the Blue Jays' strong 2025 season to have surgery for a tumor on his spine. He and Cazavand had become the go-to voices for French-speaking fans across Canada. Fans in Quebec knew him as the face of the sport, with his energetic call sticking in their minds for decades. One standout moment came in a 2018 exhibition game at Olympic Stadium when he captured Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s walk-off home run-in. Like fashion, echoing a similar throw from Damascus Garcia's 9th inning homer back in 1989.

In 2013, he received the Jack Granny Award from the Canadian baseball hall of fame for his lasting contributions to the game. His voice brought generations of excitement to French Canadian baseball lovers, leaving a legacy that will echo and highlight reels for years to come.
