The country's communications minister announced they're adding facial scans for age verification on all under 16 accounts. These moves come right after Indonesia dropped a regulation last month, forcing high-risk platforms to lock down or deactivate young users accounts. Roblox calls this some of their toughest kid protections anywhere globally, according to their VP of public policy. With 45 million users in Indonesia, 23 million are under 16, so this hits hard. Those accounts are getting shifted over. Automatically, globally Roblox pulls in 151 million daily active users, showing the scale here. Now they're launching Roblox kids for ages 5 to 12 with 0, chat, and Roblox select for 13 to 15 with chat limited to family and friends only.
