Mitchell Robinson fires back at the Knicks again for his lack of touches on the offensive end, and now he's making his comments even clearer. We're gonna break down all of these latest reports today. This episode is presented by FanDuel, and now, let's get started. Robinson fires back at the Knicks. Mitchell Robinson continues to call out the Knicks offense. We recently spoke about a Facebook post he had where he called out the Knicks for his lack of touches. If you don't know what I'm talking about, take a look. Here's Mitchell Robinson on Facebook calling out the Knicks, specifically calling out New York for his lack of touches on the offensive end. Which, in his opinion, is affecting his free throw percentage.
It's affecting its confidence, and it's affecting his muscle memory. Well, after the win last night against the Raptors, Robinson was asked about those comments on Facebook, and he had the following to say. Shout out to Steph Bondy with the New York Post for giving us this following information. According to him, the issue as Robinson laid out Tuesday is the lack of outside shooting opportunities in practice, which negatively impacts his foul shooting rhythm. According to Robinson, exactly. I don't get up shots like that in practice. I just do a lot of layups, hook shots, and stuff like that. Robinson, who is down to 39% from the charity striped this season, said, if you don't get shots, you don't know how it is. You're not comfortable with it. So it's just like you've got to get some shots up. I do it in the summertime, and I'm straight, and I just get away from it.
Robinson absolutely understands his role on this team. It's defense and rebounding, specifically offensive rebounding. But Robinson not getting up shots, it's affecting his confidence and his muscle memory. And he said that exactly when speaking to the media about this situation. According to Robinson, exactly. If you're not shooting shots, even if you're not going to shoot them in the game, it's still good to have that muscle memory like that. And also confidence that comes with it too. It goes hand in hand. The 27 year old has an attempt to feel gold outside of the paint since the 2022 2023 season. Almost all of his attempts are inside of the restricted area. His workouts with the nicks are geared toward that style, which isn't the case when Robinson is training in the off season. But the shots are still not falling.
And Robinson believes it's related to his offensive responsibilities, being limited to rebounding, setting screens or putbacks. And Robinson believes it's related to his offensive responsibilities, being limited to rebounding, setting screens or putbacks. According to Robinson, exactly. That's like my job. That's my job on this team. Bring energy off the bench. That's what I try to do every night when I play. So I continue to do that. And even though we're talking about Robinson and his foul shooting woes, we have to mention the rest of his success this season. He's leading again in the east in offensive rebounds per game. Despite just averaging 19.4 minutes, that presence under the glass has changed the results into victories for the nicks. One thing I want to make absolutely clear, Mitchell Robinson is not saying he doesn't want to rebound.
He doesn't want to defend. He doesn't want to do all the things that we know Mitchell Robinson can do that we expect out of Mitchell Robinson. He wants to do those things, but he wants to do more. He wants to contribute more on offense. And I said this yesterday when I was covering this situation and I'll say the same thing again. I have agreed with him and the other half I kind of disagree where I agree with him is that he needs to be involved in the offense more. The nicks need to feature him more. They need to get him involved more. They have to reward the big men on the floor for doing their job running the floor. Pose Alvarado is a perfect example of this. Take last night's game against the Raptors. The second quarter Mitchell Robinson is doing everything on the floor. He's not touching the ball. Alvarado gets on the floor. He sees Mitchell Robinson set a screen and roll to the basket.
What does he do? He gives him an easy alley up inside, slam it home. The nicks are a better team because of it. New York, they need to reward the big man more. They're doing their job out there. They're running the floor. If you don't reward them, they're going to be less engaged. They're not going to want to play that role. Pose Alvarado, he understands the assignment. And last night with Jalen Brunson. He had penicist. He clearly understands the assignment too. Although I do want to say I wish the captain got Mitchell Robinson more involved. Got him more alley up inside. Used him more inside as a weapon. Because if he did that, I promise you the game would be even easier for Jalen Brunson. And that matters. We also have to speak about the confidence and the muscle memory. Mitchell Robinson has now said this twice.
His confidence and his muscle memory are getting affected by not putting up more shots. He's not even putting up those shots in practice. In practice, New York isn't allowing him to do that. They're more pushing him to play the way he's going to play during games. Honestly, I can understand that. And it's also practice. And if Mitchell Robinson feels he's going to be even better for New York. If he's doing these things during practice, then let him do these things during practice. Let's see if he's right. Let's see if him practicing in this way helps him on the offensive end with New York. Because if it does, it's a welcome change. Let's see what happens on the other end. And this is what I have to mention. He constantly speaks about the off season. What he does in an empty gym with his trainers and a couple of other people that he's working out with. And while I can acknowledge that and I like that, I'm impressed by that.
And I'm glad Mitchell Robinson is putting in the work. There's a huge difference than what you do in an empty gym and what you do with the gym fold with the crowd. That's either for you or against you. It's a pressure. It matters. And you can't get that during the off season. The only place you're going to get that is in game and all do respect to Mitchell Robinson. When we give him opportunities during games, he doesn't take it. He passes the ball back out to a Jalen Brunson, a MacKell Bridges, a coral Anthony towns. And likely that's the right play to make at that point in time. So I'm not blaming him for that. But you could also make the argument in those situations. Couldn't he go back up strong for a put back dunk? Because if he did that, he would be more involved in the offense. He doesn't always have to pass that ball out. Now, I'm not sure if Mike Brown is telling him instinctively when you grab the ball off of a rebound, pass it out quickly.
Do not try to score. I don't know if Mike Brown is saying that to him. Because honestly, Mike Brown sometimes doesn't really run anything. It's read and react. And if it's read and react, shouldn't Mitchell Robinson do that inside when the defense is giving him that play. Oftentimes, he doesn't have to pass it out. He can go up strong, finish, and then we're going the other way. Exactly what he should do. So this is why I say I have agree with him and I have disagree. I agree that he needs to be more involved in the offense. All of our bigs need to be more involved in the offense. When you're a big and you're running the floor, you need to be rewarded for that. Jalen Brunson, Jose Alvarado, they need to understand that. Alvarado, he has that understanding. Brunson, while I'd like to think he knows that sometimes during games, he doesn't go to that and hopefully moving forward that changes and he does.
But this last part where I do agree with Mitchell Robinson, you can't stop Robinson for trying to practice the way he should be practicing if it's going to help him during games. Sure, you want him to practice for 45 minutes to an hour, the way the next needs to use him, let him do that. But don't trap him. Don't control him. Allow him to explore his offensive game. See what he can do. Maybe he's actually better. And if he is, that's a benefit for New York. Either way, this is what Robinson was talking about after New York got that win over the Raptors. And it's important because Robinson is in a contract year. If he does not like his role, if he's furious with the amount of touches he's getting on the offensive end, what do you think is going to happen from this off season? It's likely he's going to explore free agency. And he'll likely leave if another team offers to give him the offensive touches
that New York will never allow him to get. This is something New York must think about. And shout out the channel sponsor fan duel. America's number one sportsbook for giving us this updated information and these latest odds on who's going to win the game tonight between the nicks and the thunder. And as you can see there by the money line, OKC are the favorites to win this game against the nicks. They're at minus 172 while the nicks are at plus 144. And if you were wondering why Mitchell Robinson decided to play the back to back against the Raptors instead of against OKC, it actually wasn't up to him. It was up to Mike Brown, Brown made that decision. According to Steph Bondy, coach Mike Brown determines which of the two back to back games Robinson will play. According to Robinson, it wasn't my choice. I let the coaches decide which game they want me to play.
And yesterday Brown chose the Raptors game. And really the only reason he had for it was because the Raptors are in the east and OKC, they're not. And while I can understand that I really wish we had a fully healthy nicks team against OKC because that's the test. That's the team you want to go all out against. You want to see where you are. What level you're at because if you're able to beat OKC or keep it competitive or it's a very close game that tells you where you are. But if you get blown off the floor, it also tells you you have a lot of work to do. Tonight's game, it's more than just a statement game. It's a measuring stick game. This game tonight is going to tell everyone in the league where the nicks are right now after all star break. Are we a legit contender in the NBA? Are we watching a potential finals preview between the nicks and OKC?
Or are the nicks wannabes pretenders out here trying to act like they're going to get to the finals? When in reality, they have no hope of making it there. Tonight, we're going to see exactly where the nicks are. And I can't wait to see New York and what they do against OKC. And in my opinion, if New York continues to play the way they have been playing, they're locked down defense, sharing the ball, moving the ball, getting everyone involved, they can be any team on any given night, including OKC. But what about you guys? What do you think about Mitchell Robinson and what he has to say about the nicks and their offense? Specifically, him not getting up enough shots during practice. Let me know how you feel about that in the comment section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you.
But that's going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it. And if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below. And of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself. Your families and each other. Peace and love. Peace and love. Peace and love. Peace and love. Peace and love.
