RideShare Safety Advisory This is a public safety announcement concerning several unusual rideShare incidents reported throughout the county. Passengers are advised to verify the driver's name and license plate before entering any vehicle. Authorities have received reports of passengers being picked up by vehicles matching their requested rides, operated by drivers whose names also maps the information provided in the app. The problem is that these drivers are not the drivers assigned to the trips. In several cases, passengers completed their journeys normally. The driver followed the correct route. The fare was charged to connected bank accounts. The trip appeared in the passenger's history. However, when investigators contacted the rideShare companies, they found no internal record that the trip had occurred. The drivers themselves cannot be located. If you enter a rideShare and notice that the driver does not appear to be using navigation, do not ask where you are going. If the driver asks whether you have taken this trip before, do not answer.

1:00And if the driver tells you that you have already arrived, remain inside the vehicle. Authorities are investigating. There is currently no indication that these events are connected, except for one detail. Every passenger involved remembers seeing the same person waiting at the curb when they were picked up. Their face is always obscured and identification has not yet been possible. The only detail consistent across accounts is that this witness watches a person get into the car and gives a small wave as the car drives away.
