Rick DiPietro on The Cam and Strick Podcast

About this episode

Rick DiPietro was taken first overall by the New York Islanders in the 2000 NHL draft, the 4th American and 2nd goalie ever drafted 1st overall, the first since 1968. Dipietro is best known for signing an incredible 15 year, $67 million dollar contract...yes, you read that right. It remains the longest contract in NHL history to this day. His career had its ups and downs, he suffered a string of injuries but would end up making one NHL All-Star team while also representing Team USA in the 2006 Olympics. With eight years remaining on his contract the islanders bought out the remainder of his deal. Although his career was cut short, this interview was not, an incredible conversation with a guy who was once considered a cant-miss prospect. This guy is a cool-ass dude who had a number of positives along his hockey journey. It wasn’t all bad. A unique story from one of the most recognizable names in Islanders history on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
