Richard described the last year as miserable, saying he hated working with Carl amid a toxic workplace where everyone felt unhappy and at odds. He even saw a therapist weekly to cope with feeling mocked and ignored by colleagues. After 9 did not renew his contract, Richard switched to Channel 10, where he won.
