Rich Farrell (NZ Strongman and depression survivor)
About this episode
Rich Farrell!! I suspect you have not heard the name before. Rich isn’t famous, but he is one of the physically strongest men in New Zealand.
Using his stage name “the madness” he goes to competitions and lifts boulders and logs, flips big tractor tyre's, those sorts of things.
He went through a lot of ups and downs before finding himself and then finding this sport that gave him focus and purpose.
He has never told his full story publicly before, so I thank him for the opportunity.
He only wants to share his journey in the hope that it can help some other people.
This chat needs to come with a trigger warning. It does contain chat about depression and suicide.
Thanks very much to the legends at Radix Nutrition for sponsoring this episode. They make a whole range of awesome products at their state-of-the-art factory in the Waikato.
I’m obsessed with their protein and have one for breakfast every morning without fail.
