The physical intensity of these games, these tests, I mean, you expect them to drop off, but that third test went through the roof. The all blacks in defense were hitting things, the spring box, the scrum, the mall, the carrying game, they were on top, like you saw a traditional, it was a body's leaving the field. But the skill set, especially into the game, which went a minute to go almost opened up. It was an incredible test match and one that had just hooked from the start to the finish. It had a bit of everything, didn't it? And the box won at 29, 24 and it was in front of just over 85,000 or that's what they told me on telly. At the FNB Stadium, no fly over this time, I can understand why, but how good did the place look, Coli?

2:28I loved it. Every time I went to crowd, everyone was having a great time. It just looked like everyone was having a great time. The build up, the anthem, so there's something special about the QB anthem and the spring box anthem being played, like the noise, how that spring box anthem, sort of the crowd, it builds, builds, builds and the intensity of seeing at the end, like policing stuff. And then the hacker, Camerta, when the one we grew up with, that is the sort of, I don't know, the iconic hacker. So when that gets performed, yeah, it was, oh, I was ready to roll. Yeah, I never gave it, did not fail to disappoint. No, because they don't always live up to the hype, do they? And I suppose with this, there's been so many eyes on it. And I suppose building up to it and you think it's the greatest rivalry. And you know, you have wanted to be a flop and it has been nothing but intense, brilliant skills at times, two great teams, like the fantastic teams going at it and pushing the boundaries of rugby. There's been awesome. In other news, we can actually currently feel Ali and Twickenham, but we want to fill the FNB stadium, because it's capacity of 95,000, actually we'd like to do more than that.

There was literally nothing. But for me, the big turning point was the Jesse Creel Try, Lee Roy Carties, obviously got loads of sevens experience. He punches well above his weight, man. He rips in. So it was very uncharacteristic for him to fall off that tackle. Jesse Creel scoots away, shrugs him off, try. And then from there, the key was never really recovered. Like Will Jordan and Kixer, a kick dead. They sort of shift it to the right edge. He kicks it dead. Comes back for a scrum, leads to then eventually pens and more pressure. And I think that leads such to the mall in the end that they go over Malcolm Marks. And yes, but these come up with a couple with a big jackal at one point, Fabian Holland clears too deep.

4:35So that's a penalty against because they go multi-phase sort of in that 40. But for me, there was it was an absolute cracking game, but that was the big shift. And actually New Zealand had just scored themselves with Will Jordan. And then box getting it back. And box aren't particularly going anywhere at this point, but just just a one-on-one miss. And it happens. Eat like I say, I really like Lee Roy Carties. I think he punched well above his way. He rips in. He jackals, he hits. He carries like a madman. He's a serious player. But you just get punished. And from that point, I never felt like New Zealand really were able to recover in the box. Just hammered home. And actually the impact from the box was was impressive once again. The momentum was in the Kiwi's favor at that point. Like the first half been 12 all. It was close. It was another turning point was Ardysavaya had been outstanding for half hour. But he goes off. You just felt the... Well, if Citi comes on, you just felt that was Ardysavaya. The Kiwi's lost something. But yeah, let's say that first part, the second half, I think it's 55 minutes is basically both teams are like going at each other.

5:38It's physical, but there's no score on the board. And then Kiwi's almost pulling out the bag from a... Things are scrum. They play a couple of phases. They sort of kick through, gets deflection, but Carves chase it. Popters will join their score. And you think that's the moment this game sort of broke open. But then literally, to work basics. The Kiwi... The throw up basics. Thuringots kick off. Hook Ethan Rookov, Brim Brilliant in the air. All game. He gets it back. The play a couple of phases. Next thing one, Miss Tackle. Jessica Hill scores. And at that point, I mean Kiwi's also missed the kick a goal with conversion. But you know, at that point, the Kiwi... The Thuringots move back in front. All that hard work you've done. You've built 20 minutes of pressure and they've started that second half. Or not 20 minutes of pressure. But you know what I mean? You've sounded to the right. You've got to break through as the Kiwi's then to let it all go. In basically, not catching a kick off and more Miss Tackle. You just felt momentum swung at that point. And yeah, as you say, from then on, it kind of went against the Kiwis. You say, well Jordan kicks it along. We had Malcolm Arx turn over which led to a sort of, I think a more penalty which led to another more penalty which led to basically a 20 meter more try. And if you're the Kiwis, if you're any forward pack, you can see the 20 meter more try. Like you've got to look at yourselves and be a bit disappointed in what you've done.

6:46You've got to buy hook or buy a crook. You've got to find a way of taking that thing, not letting them score, but credit to the spring box. Their mall's been outstanding throughout this entire tournament. And that just broke the back of the Kiwis. Do you think on... That mall, you don't see a team mall from sort of 18 meters out and crash over like that. They look like they were going to go into the right and they found a left edge and they sort of swung around. And once they broke through, you couldn't stop it. At some point, you've got to illegally just sack it and bring it out. Like if you know it's going that close, you've just got to infringe and bring that thing down. If it's 20 meters out and you've got 10 meters of... You've lost the first 10 meters. It's going badly. So at that point, yes, you probably have to do something semi-legal. Because if you get close to the goal line, it could be a penalty try. But you have to stop it. And there's a moment where that mall stops. But the Kiwis defender on the far edge, it's about 10 meters out, 9 meters out. But he sort of... I think he's worried about the breakout. So he doesn't fully commit, sort of hits it half-assed. And then he almost wears a thing back up and that's when Malcolm Alston was going through the middle.

7:47So, yeah, at that point, it's all hands-on deck. And literally, if you're under the pump there, you have to just... Someone has to take the team and try and deck the thing. Or a lift fight another day. He might get yellow card. You might then have another mall, you know, the spring watch, they might malls at the corner, but at that point, you kind of go, well, with a line out, they might mess it up. But, you know, you've gone back 10 meters, malls and have rolled in forward. You can't... You just have to find a way of not letting them score. But credit South Africans, they found a way. Malcolm Alston is brilliant. Like, some skillsets, we have to sit behind that mall. Some skillset as well for the guys in front to stay in front. And 20 meters is tough on the legs. Like, I've been in those situations where it is, say, hard. You think it's sort of... You think, oh, it's easy more than, but no, it's incredibly hard. And for the spring watch to do that, especially at that point in the game. They're full pack. And, yeah, it's sort of that sort of center dagger, I think, in New Zealand. They were certainly able to flex their set piece power. Like, we know that we know their carry power. Like, even, you know, we've seen it for the two previous games, you know.

8:49You saw the great, you know, Jasper, first half up the middle. Like, what a break. Just power off he goes. The oxmate. The ox was on fire, by the way. The ox was on absolute fire. At one point, Coli, he got there and he had to play nine. And he zips a lovely left hand pass, hitting a pot of forwards that any nine would be proud of. He's passing from the base. He's scrumming him. He's mulling. He's hitting things. He's smashing rucks. He's carrying. He's making breaks. He does a pick and go. Just as for us. We want him to be world player of the year. Just for us. He picks and goes. He somehow gets like picks and goes. He does everything but score it. He's like, gets passed about three players in the pick and go. He does everything to score it. The guy was immense yesterday. He's just showing you what he can do. As I said, well, play with the eight. He's just showing you what he can do. And he can do what Nines can do. He can offload and carry. And he can also do what other people can't do. Which is scrum as it lose it and pulverize the key reason that one scrum on the five metre. Yeah, we for those that maybe didn't listen to our previous pod.

9:54We were very much. We're on this campaign of justice for ox. We want him to get world player of the year. We want justice for props. Malcolm Marks, when as a hooker, obviously last year. I want to propped with world player of the year. And I think we do. I was asking for a short list of three to be narrowed down to one. I think ox who's been on the list before proved he needs to be on the list again and needs to win it this time. There was a lot of chat about the scrums given last weeks. I'm not going to call it shenanigans but a lot of collapsing scrums. No real contest. Accusations of South Korea walking around Dave ready it almost. Given the team talk for the box. And there was no escaping the scrum this week. It was allowed to unfold and my gosh did unfold. Every time the spring box play at the scrum is a massive part of the game. And I think last week Dave ready said. The box has been running around and like especially in England the media retention I've seen on this game. It's all been out the scrum like literally. Everyone who South Korea's come out and defend the scrum said you know we don't teach that we don't do that. And yeah it was a fairly hefty reaction. But as you saw on the field today.

10:58Like I thought that the keyweas for the most part. Managed the scrum battle well. It was a good great contest. But just five meters out. I don't know what the keyweas I know if the spring box been toyed with them and just going up we'll just keep it steady or whether the spring box just sort of sorry or whether the keyweas switched off but five meters out. Like they say the scrum had been fairly neutral and then I think spring box been on top of the penalty count but the power coming through that scrum like from the spring walks of events. And you look at the way it goes like it goes the fact that. Got a credit Malcolm marks in this scrum like oxen traders damage on the type but you must look at the scrum from above and it's fascinating watching it because Valkyrie is square. And also Malcolm marks on a slight sort of like angle he's attacking the hooker and was pushing everything towards Wulco and when as a tighthead. If I was going against that as soon as a hooker has my sort of inside shoulder you naturally turn in which and exposes you to oxen chair. There's no one better at basic exposure to tighthead so there's three working together will co low oxen chair and Malcolm marks the the cahesion cahesion in their front row.

12:05No what they're doing and where to attack and that scrum moves right first and then goes forward since it's like low max who almost gets left as the keywee tight it is and was left on an island by himself because the other side the scrum is moving backwards and away from him. You get pulled into that whole oxen chair does what he does and yeah it was a you got the power behind from the spring block pack you look at that I think the packs it said early doors the box average six kilos and more than the keywee's and you combine that five meters out that's some some weight and yeah that at that point you were. Just in or the box pack because they said it's a penalty try you don't often see a penalty try in international rugby but from a scrum but that was so well done and fully thoroughly deserved and came to crucial point because the keywee's had just had room and love between the simbine and that was almost like you know that massive break. And the turning the time and just capitalise on those moments which was in test one the box didn't do and the keywee's did but test three the box capitalise on those moments and that proved it there when you're awarded a penalty try like that is the feeling for the pack like I imagine it is for a back that scores an absolute worldie from sort of 50 out and beats a couple of defenders is the elation huge it's better than your worldie from 50 make because it's a.

13:22Effort of eight blokes and say it's what you know you're still a worldie from 50 but you know the skin involves but literally forwards go to the wire every Tuesday normally in unit sessions or Wednesday it's like we're scrumming against you all through preseason you're scrumming against you you're fighting against each other you're brawling like you spend so much time in the gym you spend work on technique and when you get it right and you get penalty try from a scrum like all the work you've done all the effort you've been done is reward not only is it so much better than the one you've been doing. The title it's the combination of front row it's the locks and behind it's the flankers and everyone you know it's one moment where the whole pack can really enjoy and celebrate and those bits of hard work go together so yeah I reckon that's the best feeling on a rugby field yeah and I say also the tone it sets like you score a world you from 50 right it's like oh I saw world you from 50 it's great but I kind of go a little bit of fluke will be all right when the opposition scrum is going backwards or when you're in a scrum it's going backwards every time the scrum from then on you're just going to get it right.

14:22It's like great I'm getting it so yeah it has a mental effect on the entirety. One thing you did mention and I agree with you like pure power on that scrum like ridiculous but by large the scrums are pretty neutral and the ball's in and out and scrum stayed up you didn't see that dominance repeatedly you know it was like a one off massive scrum penalty try like wow but you're almost saying oh it's going to be like that for the remainder of the game but you've got to credit New Zealand for the fact that it didn't happen again probably going to upset some people there but the first scrum penalty the box one on the own ball it almost felt that it been two weeks worth of stuff playing out in the press because you actually watch the scrum vulgar load loads on his knee and then the scrum goes down and the referee gives him the penalty and you're a bit like I think almost in the referees heady to have the perception right last week it's sort of the box not getting just a reward so then he's gone this week I'll just give him the 50 50s and that kind of stuff and almost felt that was a good thing. Almost felt that was a bit awkward but that's and they say they're the scrum's are so neutral yes there was a bit of movement and but there wasn't that dominance and he had to five meters out and then the box just roll them and I'm part of me's watching him like is that the key we switched off or is that the fact the box have been toying with them into the garden right we're having it now and just turn on that power and if it's the second one like that's unbelievable ability to do that I'm part of me thinks it's not the second one because

15:44no in the box you want to scrum each hard every time we penalties every time but just their ability from five meters out to do that yeah it's scary and you know it's incredible to watch. Where would you would you rank if you were to say box obviously the best scrumming team in the world who is your second and third if you do your top three. Would New Zealand be in your top three right now I would put England up there basically from the six nations and then the depth they can pay shovels to and Joe Hayes it's tight head and to get engine backs from people like that when everyone's fit I say England and then third it's probably the key ways to be honest like you actually look at the other teams around the globe like Ireland have been good Scotland or right but like you actually look at the teams Italy are definitely up there especially they just do.

17:03But yeah you look it's and so which is scary considering you think about the gap between probably the gap between. One and two is much bigger than the gap between like two and six or seven in world scrumming you know what I mean that's how far the box head of everyone. Yeah it's just quite interesting sort of here that because you sort of think wow you know New Zealand is sort of in your eyes within the top three and they're doing that to them and you saw it in the first test they played you didn't see it in the second test that was like you know that's where all the scrum chat came really but the first test you certainly saw that the power then one thing on the back of that penalty try though which wasn't that enjoyable to see was camera we got and we've actually had a tweet come in from a shark app shark net on X and it says bean to the Nick white diving school. Yeah yeah it's it does get flipped up but like diving on the floor and holding your head is I don't even just consider it. I know you just considered and you're trying to get your team back back into things but you don't want to simulation of the repeal and I thought the referee kind of handled it well yes you got tipped in it C.L.O.

18:11and you kind of like what I would say about the ref there is because it all kicked off and everyone's to fight it's like you make a penalty then hopefully it kind of kills that kind of stuff whereas if you let it linger and go on it happens but yeah you don't want that in the game and hopefully won't see again. Matt I didn't think it was worthy of anything apart from literally saying to Roy guard don't do that like you need you need knowledge can be a great non geloans would have dealt with that mate you imagine knowledge in a blown his whistle it said come here right don't pick him up and throw him but also don't roll around play acting I think I think if you just yeah if you just if it was just the action is fine but because it kind of kicked off and everyone like got a bit of a bargy bargy like I think referees should be empowered to be able to do it. You sparked it is a penalty because otherwise that could kind of go you know what I mean like just lingers through the game we've seen it before me where like every like when England Argentina somewhere like for about 80 minutes it's just a bargy like people pushing and stuff and like at some point ref just go and penalize one of you I don't want this it's wasting my time and I think referee actually handled that all right but yeah it's it's more probably for the reaction and say Roy Garshan of one penalty based on the fact that he got flipped over also that cold I will say you know Roy Gars did a lot of the same thing with the other players and I think it's not going to be a good thing to do that.

19:26Roy Gars did something similar in super rugby where he caught the ball like laid there you know penalty given then pops up quick taps and off he goes he's obviously done as well at the weekend where he's laid there like I would just say this you're a really quality player like you're better than that like you don't need to be doing that like you wouldn't see but you won't see the bomb do that you won't see Gibson part do that you wouldn't see Thomas Williams do that but thing has been he's done it twice now I'm been rewarded twice. So yeah well I know someone you got to snap you know someone's got to grab hold of that and just so we're in haven't it and that's why that's why I want justice for the great Nigel Owens mate he would if he watched that game and let's say Nig did I reckon he spat his tea out in in in disbelief of what he's watched you know human. What would you how would you have felt if I if I did something like that Coli well probably would have been after considering penalty try looking at the floor and trying to have the world eat me up or hold and floor it me up so probably wouldn't have seen the initial thing but then yeah I'd have definitely powered in Ben thinking that you've been assaulted just to try and like spark something so if someone gets punched something that might then become the headline rather than the penalty try so yeah probably have you know reacted in a similar way but afterwards I'd have been like would have had a beer and a laugh about it.

20:45Yeah well the fact is cold it would never happen to me some triple our bastards if anything on a picked up. Um Cobus Ryanak and how to flipped him he wouldn't be picking me up I am a fucking hard bastard and I'd flip them all just one after another mate just flipping them. Talking to the HBs Queen Tupai though I thought without standing in this game and when he went off there's actually the Kiwi's lost a big he's been under song here at that Kiwi's backline especially grown on this this tournament scene where he does but him sitting down and it's a Beth early doors that was some collision and showed you the intensity and ferocity of this test match. Yeah I mean it was it was an example of once again the physicality the intensity and just I look at it and you think that's a midfielder against a lock who is huge sort of talisman in terms of bringing that physical edge and you like that if that doesn't sort of set the tone in terms of where the games are yeah super impressive.

21:46I said the Queen Tupai like giving me some hours like I thought him going off was a big loss like he's a physical presence and he's just some real like you talk about doing like hard work in the center to be a photographer and he is that you look at I was a bit miffed this is my another rant is when he got done early doors for a massive tackle hits the ball referee straightway penalty high shot like goes to him outside the ball. There's a bit of hate contact you like fair enough but that's where it gets refereed like when he ran into it's about them pretty sure he gets a bit hit the ball and they've hit his head and it was kind of ignored so yeah maybe the referee had a bit of a worry about this test match but Quinterpie fair play you watch him at the break down you watch physicality in the carry in the tackle like he's a great player and I think like you one thing that you didn't really see is New Zealand's first try when they peel off the back of the line outlook comes around the corner. Quinterpie comes from 13 channel and he hits that breakdown and melts it so hard the box is basically within a meet with a breakdown and he gets spared and there's about four spring box end up in the pile at the bottom of the thing and that's what opens up the short side for artists are there to go down because it's almost like.

22:52The effect of that clear at the breakdown is not totally legal but it's the bodies that he just the chaos he creates and the free shot in the physicality sets there just gets the thing moving forward to the arts close to the line but also. Just the pile of bodies that it creates and that was sort of you know yes it was some great skill and great the hooker is an incredible carry physical beast but to pile those bits and pops like they're just latching and hitting things like when you get any centers doing that you know that's the stuff that you want. Along with all the stuff like ball and leg running tackling all that kind of stuff at the dirty work you see it and you like really appreciate it the velocity in the in the sort of tackle zone rock area. Is amazing because you look people look and they'll see New Zealand play a great speed and the ball movement and the box you know when they start ticking and the ball zipping and they're playing it's shape and it's movement and you're thinking you're so it's. But you forget about none of that happens unless people are absolutely. Flying into the breakdown and creating two second ball and you know I think that New Zealand certainly under Dave Renny I think their breakdown get their breakdown has always been phenomenal you know like inches off the.

23:59Ground like absolute empty it create speedable they go back to back speedable then they play on top of you and it's very hard to stop but the breakdown stuff has been super impressive I thought on you the hooker. I've seen he's obviously come on you know started loads again is that often he comes on for Cody Taylor but I thought he he brought that nice physical edge didn't he certainly in terms of the carries and that extra bit of a bolster. But one thing I would say is Arty Sava like what a player like unbelievable you know he came in ahead of this test series injured with not many minutes under his belt. And just is a such a shame to see him go off is such a shame that he's going to be injured like wish him a speed recovery like what a back rather like an incredible player and he scored two tries at the weekend. And I want to talk about the second one in particular because didn't it highlight once again is the box mist touched twice and they don't mean to mist touched trying to kick out because they want to go to set piece I want to go to a structured set piece to be able to manage New Zealand attack.

25:02But New Zealand's ability to hold on to the ball New Zealand's ability to thrive in that unstructured that multi phase and just find space the layered attack the multi phase I just. Yeah it was like inviting pressure inviting pressure just can't do that against New Zealand it was like New Zealand of old like you mist touched once. They'll probably punish you you miss it twice you're definitely getting punished and sort of all three times yeah they did yeah because the box came from Ryan act that goes in field and the key we just like return it then. Ruben love kicks in the corner and sort of I think Sasha then basically kicks one back to him. The key was a make a break they turn it over and then the key was actually he gets a turn over the key back to them. And third time round like yeah that's what the key was live for and it's kind of like they ended up scoring it in the corner. They did and it's like the longer the more they the unstructured went the more its favors New Zealand in that type of game which is fascinating. But yeah I already saw via what a player just yeah just a real shame because you want New Zealand have lost some bodies to be fair. On the back of this game and so Safga you know you're Cheslin Colby you've got to say as well he went off of course early on.

26:07They had to rejig Safga did in terms of Sasha gonna fall back which I thought he went well at. Obviously Marney LaBoc come in at 10 and I thought you know his ability to move the ball was was was very good and yeah like some rejigging again like both teams are when you played with that physicality and that intensity you are going to lose bodies. But yeah wishing everyone everyone that got injured a speedy recovery. I think he was almost two times big physical leader in the back line and Savae is big just is this the leader anyway and I think you know those who are going to be massive losses. Next week talk about the Bocca coming at 10 it really opened that final like 20 minutes of the game you could see in the first of a game. I think the spring was being quite tight especially last week carrying but their ability to it was quite scary like last 20 minutes of the game. It's sort of opened up so when the box took the lead and not sitting on it but had a comfortable lead and then throwing the ball around the Boc within the ball like going edge to edge and almost like and then the key we got the ball key we start was like tapping and going from nowhere. Like the game almost sort of dissolved into something we haven't seen so far in this tournament and it's yeah it was fascinating to see.

27:07New Zealand is still trying to create that they want to play an unstructured multi phase and bring the box into that game. Savae still want to bring you into a set piece controlled set piece game. Happy to play phase happy to counter attack they've got some absolute gold dust but it's sort of they want to do it in their terms. They don't want it to become a loose health a scale to game because that favors New Zealand more like you saw Roy Gardner quick tap at one point. Yeah. I think like in this third test we've seen like the spring box especially like turn over ball it seems to be opening up and moving to the width which probably what we've seen past the year or so and didn't see in the first. Can we test maybe the the summer is like their ability to move it wide and say when Aaron's the scores that's the thing of line up turnover. The box spread the ball round down to goes through but like it's just when they have you come trust like. Almost two teams the box can play now they're combining into one like you got the physical side things sure that's weak so opening up this week and the fact they can do both there aren't many teams that can do one of them really well and the fact they can do both. Is scare and say yeah the key we almost want it loose but almost like as it gets loose the box are probably better at that game than the gap between the key we said the best

28:16loose in the box loose is closer than the box playing tight and the the all black spying type so yeah it's great to see real scary for everyone else. Sir Khalisi again absolute talent man figure we talk about Ardysa Veer but of course he is as well he's now had he now has 55 test wins as captain and that is a new record. Two World Cup wins as well in those like things so like 55 wins as test captain and say two World Cup is an incredible record and he plays an incredible eras from the Ossarope and yeah one of the all time great. He also doesn't stop playing the game in terms of one he's off he is I think we spoke about this before but the energy he brings to that sideline like the encouragement he's literally living every moment even when he's not in the field and I just think it's it's infectious it is inspiring and if you're you know I mean because it always flicks the big screen you're on the you're on the pitch you you flick to the big screen you see and when you've got your captain like living every moment with your team still it's just it's awesome it's absolute awesome.

29:20No he's incredible leader but his leadership starts pregame he's the best anthem singer in the world. I'd say off the top male if we were to do a quick top three of captain singing absolute passion the anthem.
